Spoofing the location that show's up when using Find my Iphone
Can anybody think of a way to change the location that mobileme retrieves to something else except for the Live gps coordinates of the phone?
I was trying to mess with it using Fake Location but I couldn't figure out which app apple uses to retrieve the location.

nah I could do that by turning off the find my iPhone feature on the device itself but I was hoping to leave it on

lol, gotcha. I would have suggested Fake Location but looks like you tried that. What about Location Spoofer?

i've tried both and they both work in the same way. I had the same results so I was trying to see what other options there were

Those are the only two I know of. They haven't been updated in a while though.

i dont think u can. at least for now cuz FindMyiPhone retreive the location from the system, not an app.. Fake Location and Location spoofer its for indivudual apps.. not the system it self.

can anybody think of a way of spoofing the system itself like what would be the approach, I know there is no ready made solution so going into the technical aspects has become a possibility

Hmmm... Dont get me wrong, but if you ever found a way... Please dont share it online. It will be easier to steal iphones that way.

Don't get me wrong, but if that's the case, should we get rid of threads that tell people how to remove sim cards, DFU restore or other?
He's here asking for help & so is everyone else from time to time. I'm sure people have used a lot of these threads, to aid in their thievery. Most often it's honest & with good intentions but occasionally I'm sure it's with ill intentions. It's not up to u to "ASSUME" why someone is asking a question, or what someone might do with the info they receive here. Obviously if it's blatant & the OP of a certain thread is specifically asking for how to break the law, then I'd get it. In this thread it's not the case & u should save the parenting for ur own kids, this OP's question is not bad to answer because somebody may do wrong! JMO, other then that, besides ilocalis "Fake Location" I don't know any other apps.

I didnt assumed anything, I'm just asking for him not to share a cheat that will do more harm than good for whoever had its phone stolen.
Just like imei-changing, it will make the life easier for thieves to steal our phones and get away with it.

U "ASSUMED" someone who learns how to fake their location, is a thief stealing iPhones! Why would a thief want to fake the location of a stolen iPhone anyway? The sim would be removed & the iPhone restored, the owner would have no way to locate it. The only reasons anyone would fake there location in MobileMe is A) to deceive parents or B) trick or hide from spouse/bf or gf. Wtvr the reason, who cares, help him by suggesting any answer to his question. Not by "ASSUMING" anyone who reads ur suggestion, may or may not do wrong. If I use a backhoe to dig a hole & save a child stuck in an underground well. Then a bank robber has an idea, he gets his own backhoe & digs under a banks vault to steal money. Should I not have saved the child, cuz it "MAY" inspire or give ideas to someone on how they can do wrong? Ur "ASSUMPTIONS" won't help to answer the OP's question, to suggest not to answer a reasonable question because it may be used by someone with I'll intentions is absurd!

Lol, come on, you are overreacting. Some tools are easier to be used for harm than others.
I'm really not saying anyone in this forum is a thief, cheater or even evil mastermind. But if the information gets out here, it will spread to other foruns.
Not all thieves are smart enough to format the cellphone or even disconnect it. And its no use try to create other cenarios where this should or not be usefull or compare it with small children crying down a hole.
Imagine if I spoof my location and get in a accident in a mountain and nobody would find me because they'd see my signal elsewhere (maybe inside the ringu well)...
Its my firm believe that imei-changing and location-spoof tools shouldnt be taught to anyone, because eventually they can be used against us. Anyone that got its phone stolen may agree with me.*
Jailbreaking, piracy, tweaks, modding and all that is good, worms or anything that will hurts us is bad, plain and simple.

Who cares what u think? Also why r u going on about changing the IMEI? Go save the world, somewhere else! In this thread, help the guy fake his location if he so chooses. Wtvr the reason, who cares! Maybe he wants to play a joke, just have someone not know where he's at or late night booty call!
Also I never compared it to saving a child, I used that scenario to point out how absurd ur "ASSUMPTIONS" or predictions were of someone that may read this! Okaley dokaley, Mr Nostradamus!

IMEI-blocking and location finder are our only tools against stolen phones. Why destroy that?
And I never said for him not to fim a way to do that, just please dont share the info with the rest of the world... It will be used for evil for sure. Its inevitable!

Imagine u were mountain climbing with ur mistress, u wouldn't want ur wife to find u! Also if u had a signal to be located, u can always ummmm, call 911, coast guard, search & rescue, Chinese food delivery or better yet Sly Stallone a.k.a. Cliffhanger! An even better scenario to imagine, a satellite falls on ur head! Then they locate the satellite & find u under neath it but when they check ur MobileMe fake location, they leave u there to die & go look for u at the fake location.
I also never said u called anyone here a thief, thats another one of ur "ASSUMPTIONS!" If people use certain tools to do wrong, it does not mean the people who talk about those same tools to help them legitimately should censor themselves. If that were the case, there'd be no info available to anyone!

LOL, thats funny! Don't share the info? U plan on shutting Google down or just individual forums?
Should I not give out my Great Grandmothers, Spaghetti sauce recipe? Maybe somebody might make a batch of spaghetti sauce, add some pois0n to it & murder people? Awwwww crap, now I can't share my legit, safe, legal, desired recipe info cuz someone on the internet might decide to do wrong!Last edited by nillam1; 04-03-2011 at 04:00 PM.

Lol, you forgot the part where evil jawas steal my phone, change its imei, use it to share illegal spagetti recipes and dont even bother spoofing the location because the battery would be dead for sure at that time, so they trow it down a big scary hole and hit the small children inside.
You keep saying I'm assuming things, but you are the one coming up with cenarious and examples, I just responded in a way you would better understand. You are the one who started of saying that some ppl here can use info for evil intentions, please re-check our posts... :/
Clearly we will not agree with each one's position on this, so we'll have to respectfully agree to disagree.
I hope you do find your spoofing jedi trick and I ask again not to share it with dark lords.
