Very big Iphone 4g problem!
Hello everyone,
i have a very big problem with my Iphone 4G 16GB. Its a long story.
So i did a code for my iphone and i forget it. And i tried to delete the passwd file from the iphone with a brower in /var but i deleted 2 files, i forget the name, it think anything with masterpaswwd and the other fille called passwd. So i deleted it and restart my Iphone but it's in DFU mode and it wont exit the mode. Its stuck in DFU mode. I tries a lot of time to restore with Itunes but with no succes. I get a lot of errors: erros 1601, 3940, 1400,... It's on 4.0.1 version. I tried it with Recboot but it don't work. Please help me. How can i repait it? Sorry for my bad English.Last edited by afoenis; 02-12-2011 at 10:23 AM.

Use iReb to restart in dfu. It bypasses iTunes errors when restoring

Connect the iphone to itunes, and while your still in DFU mode hold the top button and home button at the same time, it will boot up normally

Well shsh's are what you need when apple stop signing a firmware. When you do not have these saved you have to go to the firmware. In Cydia did it have shsh's: 4.0.1 or anything above. Also do you need an unlock?

You have also stated that you have tried to restore your iPhone4 to remedy the situation. The information given above and here is aimed at getting your phone working again.
It might be possible to SSH into your phone whilst in DFU mode and replace those files, if you knew what they were, but no-one here would give you theirs as they would most likely be unique to their devices.
As for the firmware restore:
Apple applies a unique code to each firmware / hardware combination.
Apple no longer provides the codes for the firmwares that you are trying to restore your iPhone with and will not allow any device to install firmware versions other than the latest version (4.2.1). So it will stay in DFU / Restore Mode.
The only way around this is if you had Cydia or Tiny Umbrella save the unique code given to your iPhone whilst they were still doing so. Or upgrading your iPhone4 to the latest iOS which is 4.2.1 (8C148). You might be able to save your baseband if you follow the instructions on the Tiny Umbrella website.

If you still get service from the cell phone network that the iPhone was purchased from, for example, if you are in the USA, that would be AT&T, then your phone should be working as soon as iTunes can activate it.
If you need an unlock to connect to the network that you pay for, then you will need to follow the instructions in the link I provided above and a SIM card (It doesn't matter if it is inactive) for the phone's native network in order for it to activate, as Greenpois0n doesn't 'Hacktivate'.

I live in Belgium and i got the iPhone from a friend from France. He jailbroken it for me and its on 4.0.1. He said to me DON'T UPDATE. I dont know why. I think the SIM card will not work anymore. If i update, my SIM card will work and i can jailbreak and have Cydia?
Thanks in advance!
