Typophone 4 iOS 4.2.1 FIX!

So I messed around with Typophone 4 today at work and I got it working on iOS 4.2.1 and now it doesn't blink 88:88 every second

The fix was quite easy and I'll post a walkthrough vid below for those who want to watch it

SSH into your iPhone (or use iFile as I did in work) and navigate to /private/var/stash/themes/typophone 4.theme

Open up Style.css and find the following line

image:url('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg')

edit it so it reads

image:url('LockBackground.png')

NOTE THE EXTENSION CHANGE

Respring and viola it should work

To change your background then name the image of your choosing as "LockBackground.png" and drag into the typophone 4.theme folder and it will replace the black background and take effect after a respring

EDIT:

To change your background using the normal method then do the following

change - image:url('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg') to image:url('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackgroundThumbnail.jpg')

Now whenever you change your lockbackground in a normal fashion, just respring/reboot and viola!

HOWEVER this will be a much lower resolution wallpaper because you are using a thumbnail image. iPhone 4/iPod Touch 4G owners will notice this more than others

In your post you have

image:url('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg')

but in the style.css file it is shown as

background-image:url('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg');

So do we also change background-image:url to image:url?

Nope
It should ready like something like this

background-
image:url('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg');

Background will be in the line above if I'm correct
The only bit you need to change is "('/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg');

You don't need to touch anything else

i don't know why..

at 1st, i did successful to fill all the data, and it works! but the wallpaper didn't. anyway thanks guys!! But.. after i download some interesting things i've seen in youtube, it just wont succeded again. i have been try dozen of time to "open" ifile and it stop working just a second after it pop up. what's huppening?

i did already remove and download again couples of time. still

Are you getting a legit version of it? Sounds to me like a crack issue...

This has not worked for me. Whether i set it to .jpg or .png I still get the flashing 8's.

Alternate Solution:

Change LockBackgroundThumbnail.jpg to a higher resolution image in var/mobile/Library/Springboard/ (also change it's reference in style.css)

Don't know why the initial posted solution wasn't working for me bit this has solved the problem.

Now to figure out why BestClearLockscreen has also failed. Any ideas?

Followup:

Using 'Typophone Weather' (available from Cydia) setting the background from the themes folder as .png works now. Maybe the version of Typophone I had became corrupted as I upgraded to 4.2.1 (as I didn't restore as new).

I almost have Typophone working on 4.3.1 but the slider background is giving me trouble. I read PP's solution with move2unlock but that removes all the slider functions which I find undesirable. Is anyone aware of a workaround?

Just get Typophone weather. It works great. I'm on 4.2.1 but it should also work on 4.3.1.

I'm using Typophone weather but when I updated to 4.3.1, I'm having the same issue as Mr.B. currently Im using Move LockScreen to Unlock to hide the slide to unlock .

Transparent slider Background 4.3 on cydia works great. It will keep the arrow and the word 'unlock' on the screen, but get rid of the slider background.

That may be the problem. I'm only using transparent and hide clock and typophone

I'm using 4.3.1 too. And no issues. Try what I suggested.

do you mind letting me know the exact filename in cydia for this? I've tried both "ios4 Transparent Slider" from ModMyi and "transparent Sliders" from BigBoss but still failed. Just in case if I've installed the wrong one :-)
