Thread: Iphone 4 sim mod?

    Default Iphone 4 sim mod?
I just imported (I live in the Turks & Caicos Islands)an iphone 4 to replace my fried iphone2 and the sim card is the new micro sim. (should have done my homework before buying) None of the service providers here sell micro sims and AT&T do not operate here.

So I was wondering whether it is possible to cut my old sim down to the size and shape of the new one? Also, Does anyone know whether the sim reads anywhere off the metal contact, or only from a specific part, as the metal contact on the new one and old sim are different in shape and can this work anyway? Any help will be appreciated.

You will be fine to cute the sim thats what tmobile people do, so just make sure you done cut any of the metal contact points.

OK I tried cutting an old identical sim card as a test, but the electrical contact in the meddle is old card is wider than the new micro sim carriage, which means the metal contact in the middle of the sim card will touch the side of the card holder, I presume this is not good? as the platic ordinarily isolates it from other parts? Help...!

Use a little bit of scotch tape and tape around the side so the contact point doesn't hit the sim tray
