Speed up cydia browsing
I ran across a hack I'd like to share. It'll speed up cydia by removing ads on description page. You will need iFile, mobile terminal or ssh installed to do this. I'll use ifile first n if anyone needs help with another way I'll help. Open ifile and navigate to /var/stash/Applications.****/cydia.app. Now find the package.js file n open and edit the line that starts
var*depiction*=*package.depiction;
change to:
var*depiction*=*null;
the line is about 3/4 way down. Good luck.Last edited by A3gOwner; 12-02-2010 at 09:32 AM.

This 'hack' also removes important details from the package information.
Is it worth that? Not for me!!

People with the 513 error make sure Cydia isn't running in the background

For those of you that it worked, what version of Cydia are you running?

Screenshots and extra descriptions aren't showing up for me. I'm on the latest Cydia beta as well. I LOVE the speed boost though, it's wonderful.

When a new version is available, it will show as an essential update within Cydia

It doesn't work as an update through cydia. You have to go to apt.Saurik.com and go to "debs" then scroll down until you see the latest version off cydia. Download and install using iFile or you can use cydias autoinstall folder.
P.s wen grabbing the deb off the Saurik site make sure you scroll past the "cydia sources" packages to ones that just say cydia then a bunch of numbers

For those who don't want to download the .deb and install manually, just add the iphonemodding repo under repo's in cydia. As for the screenshots and missing info, this has to do with the repo the package comes from serving in thier format. Some show up some don't. Of course it goes without saying use this hack at ur own risk. I've been using it for awhile now and if you know what your doing shouldn't have any problems.
