[Guide] How to create a custom carrier logo
Hey guys. I've had a few people asking me how to create a custom carrier logo, so I decided to post up a short guide on how to do it. I'll try to keep it as simple as possible, hopefully you'll be able to understand it

Ok firstly, I used this method for my iPhone 4, on 4.1 fw. I think it is different for iPod Touch (as they don't have a carrier) so I can't help you there, sorry!
You will be required to SSH into your iPhone, so if you don't know how, then read this guide:
How to SSH into your iPhone
Once you know how to SSH, download FakeCarrier (or MakeItMine works too I think) from Cydia. Create your custom logo in Photoshop or a similar program (make one white and the other in colour). The image I used is 80x40, but it could be different on a 3G[s] (probably half the size for the reduced screen resolution, I've heard reports of 70x20 working).
Save your custom images as:
Default_CARRIER_Custom.png (make this one in colour)
and
FSO_CARRIER_Custom.png (make this one white)
Navigate to the carrier bundles directory via SSH:
System/Library/Carrier Bundles
Go into the "Unknown.bundle" and you have to place your two images in this folder.
The reason why I'm saying to put one in colour, and one in white is because the "Default" one is when the status bar is a light colour when visible in apps, and the "FSO" one is when the status bar is black on the springboard (see my pics below).
Respring the device. Now open FakeCarrier or MakeItMine, and type "Custom"(without the speech marks) and respring again. Your carrier should now be custom one
If you want to name your logo something different, such as "Logo", then it would be:
Deafult_CARRIER_Logo.png
FSO_CARRIER_Logo.png
And you would type "Logo" into FakeCarrier/MakeItMine. Note: You must type it into FakeCarrier/MakeItMine EXACTLY how you named the file, it's case sensitive!
Here's what I mean about making one in colour and the other in white:
Springboard - Logo is white, same as rest of text
In-app - Logo changes colour, stands out.
Btw: I made my logo by writing my name in a cool font. You can ofcourse use an image if you prefer, head over to this thread and you'll find a lot of images if you don't want to make your own!

Let me know how it goes, I'll try to help more if your stuck!
Even if you read my guide but aren't going to use it, please press the "Thanks" button. It took me a bit of time typing it out for you folks, so some appreciation would be nice
Ps. If it's the wrong section, feel free to move. Thanks!Last edited by Funked; 10-28-2010 at 06:30 AM. Reason: Changed a few things, made it easier to do

Ah I see, did u try 80x40 or did you make it smaller than that? If you get it to work, could you tell me what size was good for you and I'll update my post?
And your welcome
Edit: I've heard that 70x20 may work, I'm not sure though. Also I've edited my original post, I've found out that it doesn't matter what carrier you're on, you don't need to replace the files with "ATT" or "Orange" etc. Just name your custom logo something like "Custom" and type this into FakeCarrier/MakeItMine and it'll work
So if you have already replaced the files, just put the original ones back into that folder - I hope you made backups like I advised! Although it doesn't matter if you didn't make backups, you can just type in your carrier name (such as AT&T) into FakeCarrier or press Reset and it will show up your original carrier.
I thought this would of got more attention since I think it's pretty cool
and it took me ages to figure out how to do it, since I searched around and couldn't find a guide on it. That's why I wrote up my own :P

Are you on an iPhone 4 or a 3GS? The logo you currently have looks almost there, just make it a little bit smaller. Try making it 70x20, and if that doesn't work then just tweak the size until it fits. Also, the size it's at now, is it pixelated or is the image clear?
Hope you manage to get it the right size, it will look great

It still looks a bit too tall, try 70(width) x 20(height) and see how it fits.
Edit: If it was me personally, I'd try about 60x20 so that it isn't too long either, it kinda takes up a lot of the status bar when it's at 80 width (your last screenshot).Last edited by Funked; 10-28-2010 at 11:52 AM.

Hey buddy. No you shouldn't need @2x at the end of the images, I'm on an i4 with 4.1, and I just made my image 80x40 and it worked. Is nothing changing for you at all? Did you respring etc? Try rebooting too. And if your using MakeItMine, try using FakeCarrier, I use FC. Hope this helps

Hi All,
Thanks for the tip. I have made my logo. Just need to wait a year or two so I can jailbreak my phone.
Random off topic question: What theme are you using?
Thanks.

Thank you so much, man, this is so awesome!
I have a question: I haven't tried it yet, does it change the "iPhone" label only or the operator logo (like At&T, Vodafone, Wind, etc.) too?
Thank you, you are the best =)
