The dark icon you talking about is when you push on the icon app?

I have hidden my weather icon by using a transparent png file and placed it on top of my weather widget. I was saving springboard space and just wanted to touch the weather widget to launch the weather app. I did this in OS3 with no issues. My issue in iOS4 is that instead of a transparent icon, a dark (black) icon shows up. I am not sure how to hide this and just display the transparent icon file.
Thanks for the help.

is the opacity 100%?
because it may be the shadow, with iblanks go in winterboard and enable no shadows
