    Talking Trimming iPhone 3G
    Hi,
I just would like to share stuff here. Hope it helps and do hit thanks if it helps you in any way. \^.^/

To start with anyone knows the launch daemon and lang pack deletion. I just would like to summarize and add xtra stuff to it.

Do note, i've only tested this on my iPhone 3G OS3.1.3 only.
*Make backup for all the things you deleted or altered
    Hit thanks to appreciate.

Speed Up Your iPhone/iPod by Removing Launch Daemons
Read the launchdaemon before you delete any of it in case you need it.

    First part
In Launch daemon i deleted :
    com.apple.DumpPanic.plist
    com.apple.ReportCrash.plist (5 of em)
    com.apple.CrashHouseKeeping.plist
    com.apple.aslmanager.plist
    com.apple.syslogd.plist
    com.apple.powerlog.plist
    com.apple.stackshot.server.plist
    com.apple.tcpdump.server.plist
    com.apple.iqagent.plist
    com.apple.mobile.profile_janitor.plist
    com.apple.chud.chum.plist
    com.apple.chud.pilotfish.plist
    com.apple.accessoryd.plist
    com.apple.apsd.plist
    com.apple.dataaccess.dataaccessd.plist
    com.apple.datamigrator.plist
    com.apple.racoon.plist
    com.apple.MobileInternetSharing.plist
    com.apple.aggregated.plist
    com.apple.AOSNotification.plist
    com.apple.AdminLite.plist
    com.apple.daily.plist
    com.apple.wifiFirmwareLoader.plist
    com.apple.graphicsservices.sample.plist (optional)
    com.saurik.Cydia.Startup.plist
    com.apple.smbd.plist
    com.apple.nmbd.plist
    com.apple.mDNSResponderHelper.plist
    com.apple.gmmd.plist
    com.apple.psctl.plist new!

    Thanks to niovhe
    com.apple.DumpBasebandCrash
    com.apple.AddressBook (Optional)
    com.apple.apsd.(* all files)
    com.apple.searchd.(* all files)
    com.apple.mobile.obliteration

    com.apple.mobile.storage_mounter
    com.apple.iapd

This is whats left on my 3G :

    Last update : 10/04/11

    Second part
I deleted all the lang pack possible . I used the script to delete all the language pack (For convinience).
Also do note, you gotta run this script regularly.

    Third part (My addition)
Delete all of these i mentioned. (Of course make a backup just in case)

    \root\Applications
Delete all application that you dont use (like the fieldtest.app and demoapp.app).

    \System\Library\CoreServices\SpringBoard.app
    Delete all the headset image
(providing you dont use any bluetooth headset)

    \System\Library
    Delete SearchBundles and PublishingBundles folder.
    (maybe its related to spotlight)

    \System\Library\PrivateFrameworks
    Delete these:
    AOSNotification.framework*
    CrashReporterSupport.framework*
    DataMigration.framework*
    MobileBluetooth.framework*
    Search.framework*
    YouTube.framework*
    AccessorySupport.framework*
    ApplePushService.framework*
    BluetoothManager.framework*
    OfficeImport.framework*
    iWorkImport.framework*

*Providing you dont use them - refer to Launch daemon thread

    \System\Library\TextInput
Delete all of the keyboard and left out all the keyboard that you use. (eg. TextInput_en.bundle)
    Optional : (TextInput_emoji.bundle and TextInput_ja.bundle)

    PNGs images
Replace all of your PNGs in your iPhone with the one that has way lower size. For example, i replaced my springboard icons to icons size that is much smaller (eg. stock icon for setting(6.36kb) replace it with lower in size like mine(1.88kb).

    Logs folder (regularly)
Delete all logs folder in iphone. as of this one, i forgot where all the logs folder placed as i forgot to jot down the directory of the logs folder. Theres 3 logs folder i found so far and inside contains the logs of applesupport, baseband, fairplayd, etc. basicly all logs and also logs from cydia.

Do note if anyone need these logs dont delete it.
Also if anyone found the exact logs folder directory please tell me. thank you.

the 3 logs folder named are Logs, Logs2 and Logs3.

    root\System\Library\SpringBoardPlugins
delete the only 1 folder the voice memo lockscreen.
    (providing you dont use them)

    root\System\Library\CoreServices\SpringBoard.app
    delete these :
    SIMToolkitCallDropped*
    SIMToolkitGeneralBeep*
    SIMToolkitNegativeACK*
    SIMToolkitPositiveACK*
    SIMToolkitSMS*
    TinkX2*
    ussd*
*if you dont need the sounds of those error

    root\Applications\MobileSafari.app
delete all the static bookmarks of all language including english.
(i think it deletes all the default bookmarks)

    root\System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework
delete all of the file thats on the pic below.
    http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/7545/67525307.jpg
    (Delete with cautios)

    root\System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework\Dat eFormats
delete all the files in this folder, unless you live in those country.

    HD Images
Delete all the HD images for 3G and 2G ONLY.
run this code in your terminal.
    find / -iname *@2x.png -delete
    find / -iname *@2x.jpg -delete
    find / -iname *ipad.png -delete
    find / -iname *HD.png -delete

    Spotlight remove new!
    Go to setting>General>Home>Search Results
    Untick all the options inside
**(except for some reason some iphone does not allow the user to untick all option and require at least 1 option ticked) However this is fine as we already disable the daemon. Unticking this is just double check that spotlight is disable

Also download a tweak in cydia called NoSpot.

RESULT for my iPhone 3G free ram! *Note : w/o VM
my average last time was low 50s and now... (Storage also increased to 166mb ).

    I have some more trimming:

com.apple.DumpBasebandCrash (Dumps baseband crashes, which shouldn't happen during normal use.)
com.apple.AddressBook (If removed, Contacts in the Phone application will load slightly slower. Disable this if you don't care about that.)
com.apple.apsd.(* all files) (If removed, Push Notifications will no longer work. Disable this if you don't use Push Notifications.)
com.apple.searchd.(* all files) (Disables Spotlight search if removed.)
com.apple.mobile.obliteration (This daemon wipes the data partition of your device when you RESET)
com.apple.scrod (This daemon deals with Voice Control. If you don't use Voice Control, you can delete this daemon.)
com.apple.mobile.storage_mounter (This daemon's function is currently unknown, but it is believed that it deals with a possibly upcoming iOS feature that will allow you to use your iPhone or iPod touch in disk mode. However, for the time being it does nothing and can be safely deleted.)
    com.apple.iapd (Functions like com.apple.accessoryd.plist)

Also can you explain to me what these do? (from your mentioned .plists)
    com.apple.aggregated.plist
    com.apple.wifiFirmwareLoader.plist
    com.apple.graphicsservices.sample.plist (optional)

    Thanks

•com.apple.aggregated.plist - It is believed that this performs some function related to Audio-In. If you have an iPod touch and do not intend to use Audio-In, disable this. iPhone users should leave this alone.

However i do delete it with no problem and i still use my earphone flawlessly. i wonder why it believe so.

    •com.apple.wifiFirmwareLoader.plist

I have no info on this but my wifi and phone works fine.

    •com.apple.graphicsservices.sample.plist

as of this i think it is to do with cover art of music. but now i have a car so i dont really have music in my phone. so do tell if it makes the phone error when playing a song.

    thanks

Damn you were right, after I deleted "aggregated.plist" and "wififirmware" i gained about 3 extra mb, at some point I saw "65mb" free ram, and then dropped to "63mb", not bad, not bad.

    Also i'm on a iPhone 3G iOS 4.1, 16gigs, multitasking + wallpapers

But... heavily using MultiCleaner to keep my multitasking bar light on usage.

thats quite good on 4.1.. haha.. i still feel 4.1 is slow compared to 3.1.3 thats y im still using 3.1.3.. but most apps dont support it.. T_T i hope theres tweak or some sort of miracle that can add support to it.. so that apps that needs OS4 API can be used in 3.1.3.. ;P

Can you post a link to the smaller size icons, i would do it myself but the pngs on the iphone are optimized and can't be opened on a computer. Oh and the aggregated daemon is for audio in.

audio in, like on a microphone?
    so an earpiece wouldn't work
or is it just a dock connected mic

Audio from a microphone connected into the audio jack wont work. I don't know about the iphones mic and dock connector mics. Just make a backup of the daemon and test if it breaks anything. (I have an ipod touch 2g so i can't test.)

i deleted aggregated but still able to use my earphone.. and i only test on earphone only as i got no other 3rd party audio in.. so backup yes..

and as of the pngs.. just find any custom icon thats smaller than the iphone version and yes iphone default already optimized.. your best bet is just change the looks of the icon.. and im sure it improved the performance cuz maybe just maybe less cached size.

I'm a 3g os4.1 user and I've read in other sites that we can delete 2x.png files from our phones since we don't need retina (which is only supported on iphone 4)?

Just tried deleting some of these more obscure things that were not listed in the remove launch daemons topic. Still seeing if I noticed an increase, no SB settings so I do not know if its freed anything, but it feels the same on launch speeds so far.

Installed a memory app. I am only averaging 40 even having done everything on this thread. Clean install of 4.1.2, nospot, fresh reboot, <20 pictures, and i;ve only used about maybe 1.5 of my 8GBs. What is wrong still?

ive done this in OS3.1.3 so if ur on 4.1.2 i dnt have any clue.. as i have experience, OS4.0 and above adds too much unuseful stuff for 3G so i wont and never update above my 3.1.3 im quite sure its because ur on OS4++ which uses more resources..

Has anybody really taken there time on a 3g ios 4.1 and removed any unnecessary resources that we don't need?
I've deleted all lang packs, deamons, etc and its still loads slow. There has to be a way we can find out what we need to do to speed it up?

my suggestion for 3G is to stick to 3.1.3.. its the furthest u can go.. else just get iphone 4.. very small amount of apps require OS4+ for now.. maybe in half a year then most apps require higher OS..
