iphone 4 ios 4.0.1 problems

hey

I just got an iphone 4 and the firmware on it was 4.0.1 and I wanted to get ride of all the data on it. SO i put the phone in dfu mode and try to restore the phone using the firmware file (ios 4.0.1) i had downloaded. But everytime I do that i get an error 3194 message. I went through a bunch of posts and figured out that other people were getting this error while downgrading. but Im just trying to put 4.0.1 back on the phone but i just wont allow me to do that. I am using itunes version 9.2.0. when i try it on my mac it gives me a different error message. I just to know if there is someway i could possibly get the phone up and running on 4.0.1 rather than 4.1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Get TinyUmbrella. Select "Advanced Options" and select iPhone 4 4.0.1 and it should pull any 4.0.1 SHSHs into your comp. If that doesn't go, select again but iPhone 4 4.0 instead (you're hitting "save SHSH" button when you finish selecting your options).

If you manage to pull any SHSHs into TinyUmbrella, proceed to hit the "TSS server" button and let it run. Open up iTunes and try the restore again go whichever SHSHs you were able to pull.

If you weren't able to pull any SHSHs into TU from your phone, you don't have any SHSHs to restore/downgrade to so you'll just have to kick your phone out of DFU and use it the way it is and manually deleting all the data out.

I'm sure you want to avoid losing your JB so updating to 4.1 is not an option.

Thanks for the rapid response, I am definetly going to give that a try. Also I just wanted if I had a way of getting my iPhone out of dfu mode without having to update to ios4.1 because in iTunes the only option I have is to restore.

Sure, just hold the power and home button and count to 10. Then release, wait one second, then turn the phone on as normal.

alright i took my phone out of dfu mode and savd the shsh files and now im going to try and restore it using itunes. how can i use the shsh file in itunes, is there a way?

Ok I'm not sure you understood me correctly unless I'm missing something.

I was asking if you were able
to pull any SHSHs like 4.0 or 4.0.1 successfully. What do you see after clicking "Display SHSH" after following the steps to pulling the SHSHs from the phone to TU?

sorry for the last post im slow at following instructions. I did what you said, but now i get a different itunes error 3002, is there a way of getting around this error?

You're not telling me the information I need to know. I can't help you do this correctly if you don't tell me what TinyUmbrella says in regards to what SHSHs you have.

If you don't tell me if TinyUmbrella displays the 4.0/1 SHSHs I can't walk you through the next steps. Error 3002 can be a couple different things and I can't assess that if you're not telling me whether TU says you have the SHSHs or not.

So now whenever i hit start TSS and try to restore it using itunes i get the error 3002 message. Please tell me what to do from here on.

But you just showed us SHSHs for 4.1...

Did you try to see if you had 4.0 or 4.0.1?

I'm guessing I cant restore. The only reason why I wanted to restore the iphone was because something was wrong with my app store, it for some reason thinks that I have a demo phone. It just wouldnt allow for me to download any apps and I really need to get the iphone 4 bumper case app to be eligible for the case. I dont know if you can shed some light on this issue.

I just wanted to ask if there was anyway whatsoever without preserving my baseband to upgrade an iphone 4 from 4.0 ios to 4.0.1?

4.0 and 4.0.1 carry the same baseband. Going to 4.0.1 requires SHSHs.
