Putting it after the file systems are mounted won't work either. Try running sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency in a SSH Terminal, It will say its only read not write, Its not...

So far I've tested my iPhone 3GS, My dad's 4 and my mom's 3G.
I've been playing it safe and have noticed an increase on all three phones at these speeds.
3G -- 600/600/50
3GS -- 750/750/50
4 -- 900/900/50

I didn't see this so sorry if it has been posted. let's say i have a crazy long day w/o charging access. has anyone tried underclocking any of them and see if the batt life is extended at all?
09-03-2010, 01:06 AM #78
I don't dare to try cos I don't want to brick my iPhone

600/600/50 on 3G 3.1.2 was more responsive and really did fell a lot faster but I had to removed the mod because it caused a dramatic drop in battery life. I'll take longer battery life over speed any day.
