Running out of Disk space Question

Hello,
I'm pretty new in this forum (i read a lot of threads before and they helped me a lot!) but now i'm signed in here.

My problem is, that im running out of diskspace in System.
I have no problems with ssh or ifile or anything else.
my only problem is, that i don't really know what i am doing, just doing the tutorial ^^
my firmware is 4.0.1 on iphone 3gs its jailbroken with jailbreakme.com and is without simlock.

my problem is:
I found a lot about this, but only with the old firmware!
i think some things have changed in os4 and so i don't know if i maybe destroy something when i move files anywhere else or so...

so it would be really nice if anybody can show me a way to do it (an app would be great... but i think there is no )

i don't need a step by step with pictures etc... a link to another post would be completely ok..
