Screen Resizing
Hello,
I have a jailbroken Iphone 2g with 3.1.2 firmware. There is a problem with the touchscreen; there are 2 dead strips that are unresponsive to touch (at the very top and bottom of the screen). I've tried all the software fixes I can think of, including increasing the sensitivity by replacing general.plist and touch.plist, and restoring. Unfortunately, I do not have one of the serial numbers that qualify for free replacement.
So here is my question: Is it possible to somehow hack the phone and make the usable screen smaller? That way I can just avoid the dead spots on the touchscreen.
Thanks for any help.Last edited by aelb771; 01-24-2010 at 10:51 PM.

there is an app out that lets your shrink your apps. Also you can get iBlank and set blank icons in the area with the dead screen so you dont have normal apps there.

I'm able to access all of my icons currently. The problem only affects the very top and bottom of the screen. So for example, in the phone, I can't push the buttons at the bottom to switch between favorites, contacts, keypad, etc.
I was looking for something in the file system to alter the screen dimensions, but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if something like this exists?
Thanks again.

Sounds like a hard process, probably not possible just by a quick change of a file though. You could always use a VNC viewer on your computer. Wouldn't that allow your to click anywhere, buhahah.

You said it's a hard process; do you know anything about it or know someone who does?
