Change what the volume buttons do

Is there a way that you could make the volume buttons accomplish the same goal as pushing the lock and home button?

The reason I need this, is because I've broken both of these.

I've ordered a new home button, but I'm not sure how long it will be until I get it, and I just want to know how to do this to begin to learn the code that the iPhone uses.

well i know there is an app that launches a camera from pressing the volume buttons also that bitesms uses the volume button to launch a quick sms screen. So this is def. possible. Give me a little bit and ill see what I can do for you.

Look in Cydia for 'quicklock.' This will give you an icon on your springboard to lock your phone. It may work until you get your phone parts in.

Soul, I'm using SBSettings to use as a lock, and there is an addon widget I believe I got that closes app. My phone is fully functional, except for lighting up the screen after locking it.
