I want to Brick my Iphone

Hi everyone. My situation may be unique, and I am not sure if I am on the right forum, but basically my goal is to purposely brick my Iphone 3G.

You see, I'm an American guy in Japan, and I wanted to upgrade my Iphone 3G to a 3GS, but because I am round eyed and not Japanese, they won't sell me a 3GS the same way the would to an Asian person. They want me to pay an obscene amount of money upfront (to the tune of $850 or so), so I want to brick my 3G purposely, so that I can bring it to the shop to exchange it for a new one, and since I think all they have left are 3GS phones, bricking it should work to get me a 3GS.

Any advice on the best most undetectable way to brick my phone?

well, i think apple wont just give you a 3gs for a 3g. you will probably have to pay something. in the long run i would wait, cuz they might not even accept your soon to be bricked iphone.
