iPhone locking up after swap file plist mod
After placing the plist on the phone I noticed the avalible memory increased, sits at roughly 40-50mb free at idle. But the phone will lockup when I use SBsettings to clear the memory. Is this a common problem? What can be done to fix it? If anything.

No.
Using the .plist thing will always cause lockups when using freemem.
com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist
That one works better for me.

Ya I think I had the iPod open.. nasty memory leaks.
With this mod, it does slow down when the ram gets low.. but I can background apps without any of them closing if not initially (Tweetdeck, Safari, Mail, Notifications, iPod or Slacker). I like it enough to keep it. I noticed that if you just open the apps, you don't really need to use freeram although it will hover around 27-30mb.

the ipod pretty much shits itself when i try to use it. it takes a good 20 seconds after a song is selected to actually play, and when it does, it is choppy and inconsistant. safari, esp when visiting this site gets raped...litterally. the phone feels like its on EDGE. i like being able to run the messages app and the facebook app in the background for quick launching, but the side effects so far are very undesirible.

I have these things open, and I don't have any serious lag. Just when the ram goes down to 27mb it hangs for a few seconds but then it frees up about 5mb of ram.

I had the "original" one installed but then I found this other one that was supposed to work better, is that the one you have? It does work better IMO.

I'm not having that issue at all.. I just got a new (refurb) iPhone and I noticed my reception is greatly improved, and no problems with signal drops either.

so iPhone decided to **** itself yesterday and i had to do a full restore. After the restore my jailbreak was obviously gone. But the battery percentage is still there? as is the tethering option. I am afraid to try and use the tethering option for fear it will disappear. Any thoughts?

umm. a little off topic no?
I would set up as a new phone when restoring, not from backup. This can cause a lot of weird issues down the road. You will have to redo any tethering hacks though.-----------------------------------------------------------

I've warned before in other thread here and on xsellize, VM is dangerous it makes your phone lag hardcore and will eventually kill it. I used it for over a month on my 2g iphone and it ended up fu*king it up and made it hard to restore which was weird, but you guys do whatever you want. An alternative to VM that frees memory good is removing safe launch daemons, I highly recommend it over VM.

restoring it from a backup, even though its not jailbroken - does this keep the VM mod or no? because i havent had a chance to jailbreak and i cant see my memory usage. yeah, i tried to tether and like i said earlier...the option disappeared.

The mod is totally gone after any restore..
And removing launch daemons gave me no noticeable improvement.
