Ultimate Guide to Increasing Memory
Over a few months I have compiled a basic list of way to increase both iPhone and iPod Touch memory. I do not take credit for what may happen to your device but I have personally tried each technique myself, and it has upped my regular 40mb of free memory to a total height of 82mb. Use at your own risk and don't forget to hit thanks.

In your case I would suggest the script before iphonevm, but if you just got your phone don't use anything because your phones lifespan will drop significantly

Might sound stupid but is there no hardware mod that could be done to swap out the 128 for 256 or 256 for 512 etc!?
A 3gs with 512 ram and clocked to it's original 800MHz would be f'ing wikid

The commands weren't working for me so I checked the other thread and found these two:
To copy and tar the files:To delete all language files except English and Japanese:Code:find / -name "*.lproj" -not -iname "en*.lproj" -not -iname "ja*.lproj" -exec tar rvf /lproj-backup.tar {} ;
Thanks for putting all the info into one file.Code:find . -type d -name "*.lproj" -not -iname "en*.lproj" -not -iname "ja*.lproj" -exec rm -rf {} ;
My 2G almost feels like a 3GS now

definitely advise anyone that is going to be deleting the lproj files, ENSURE YOU BACK THEM UP...
i was having an issue with my MMS and i managed to link it to deleting lproj files...
my issue is, if i try to send an MMS, if i would back out of the message i was sending, then go back into it the picture would disappear... also if i would receive a picture mms it would say it went through but, would not be present in the Test/Messages app to view... did a restore and all was fine until i deleted the lproj files again, same issue...
just beware!!! otherwise, this mod DEFINITELY works to increase available memory!!!

So what exactly do I do with this .zip file, and what does it do, remove safe lauch daemons and the language pack except Eng. and Jap. A little help please.
So I downloaded the .zip file and extracted the files and its just one of the vm tweaks with the VM.deb file, whats the point of this and how is it safer than any other VM mod.Last edited by nicholasa; 10-18-2009 at 10:23 AM.

Hi all, this is my first post!
I run a 3G iPhone on 3.1.2, jailbroken. I performed the Language Packs script and manually deleted all the safe Daemons and com.apple.AdminLite.plist + com.apple.AOSNotification.plist
It did in fact make my iPhone MUCH snappier, but anything relating to the internet stopped working (mail, safari, cydia, ssh) and forced me to restore. Anyone know what might have caused this? Anyone else have this problem? I want to try again, but I don't want to give it another go if there's something I don't know about.
Thanks!
Ryan

I haven't had a problem and I have a 3g. Everything has continued to work fine for me.

Maybe I'll give it another go tonight. Also, my .tar from the backup script ends at 4.9mb. The post says to ensure it's around 10mb-15mb. I waited a while to see if it would get bigger, but 4.9mb was the final filesize.
Anyone else?
Edit: Nevermind. Figured it out! Learned a lot from the original thread. Now my phone REFUSES to slow down. Great mods!!!Last edited by hydroponikz; 10-19-2009 at 01:03 AM.
