Activate iphone no sim?
My brother's iPhone got accidentally put into the washer a year or two ago and suffered water damage. He got a replacement which recently got stolen. He found his old water logged one and it works perfectly but his sim was stolen. His replacement replacement phones sim won't work. He doesn't wasn't it to make calls just to use as a itouch basically. Any way? (Also save the spam we know he is stupid...)

If you want to use it as an iPod touch then just keep the sim out of it. If its not showing up in iTunes you may wanna try to put it in DFU mode and restore it.

Yeah except I guess none of you get this.... If there is no sim in it you can't slide to unlock.

Your story does not add up. A replacement phone from who? A water damage phone that now works perfectly? Sounds like a stolen phone problem to me. Or you both would know something about iphones. So go to att and purchase a 2yr iphone plan for you miracle water damage iphone. Wolah, you got a sim card, problem solved.

Find someone with an old sim. Anyone who gets a new iPhone gets a new sim in it. Borrow their old sim. Even though it is deactivated it will still pass the activation process.

I've been back from the dead a few times
Plenty of water damaged phones come back to life. I stick them in a bag of rice, but anything that allows them to dry out will work. Even time works on some. It makes sense because 1) if it were stolen, why would he make up anything so complicated? and 2) there aren't any holes in his story.
Just plug in, restore, redsn0w and use it as an iPod.

Wow,your a real regular iphone saviour. Where you resurrect plenty of iphones with your holy rice. How many have you saved?
P.s. there's holes in your story.

I had the same problem with the water, and I put it on a rice bag, but I forgot to tell my wife, when I came from my job, my wife served me a plate with rice, beans and a fried iPhone.
