ActivateMMS2g hack on OS 3.1

Hey, has anyone tried the activeatemms hack on their 2g iPhone after upgrading to 3.1? Does it still work?

me too stuck at the start up logo resulting in a couple of restores
after installing so guess it does not work

you mean, you updated to 3.1. You opened cydia, installed activatemms2g hack, and then you rebooted and got stuck on Apple startup logo?

well that sucks. if Apple disabled it on purpose, it probably wont be an easy fix.

I can confirm that this doesn't work on 3.1. Wish I had seen this thread before I made one about it, I'm such a noob.

Yeah definitely didn't work for me. As in, had to force DFU mode, restore to normal 3.1 firmware *then* re-run Pwnage and pwn the firmware. Think I can live without MMS for the moment, or I'll swirlymms it. It was bad enough getting it to run on 3.0

Yeah, there just isn't enough in 3.1 for me to upgrade and loose my precious mms or go back to swirly. I'll probably be rockin 3.0 till my 2g processes it's last process. Lol. (which sadly won't be too long).

1º Intall mms2g.deb, copy to iPhone. for example / var / root
2º / var / root, windows terminal type cmd: dpkg-i mms2g.deb.

I realize this is off-topic, but why are you guys bashing Swirly? It's working great for me. I mean it's not streamlined into the Messages app but it works as advertised for me.

damn i haven't done it yet .... i had to roll back to 3.0.1 last night and i was thinking about the whole process again if this does not work.

Yup def screwed up my iphone last night had many problems after installing activatemms2g and getting stuck at the loading pineapple! OMG was able to finaly get it into DFU mode then trying to restore ( several times with itunes) kept getting 1600 error messages and gave up last night after i got it restored and unlocked back to 3.0...did it today and worked fine i am unlocked and jailbroken with 3.1 but no MMS

let me know how the manual installation goes !

Error 1600 message simply means you are in recovery mode and not DFU, in future just plug into itunes while apple logo is on, open pwnage tool, go to DFU mode setting without creating the custom FW, reboot iphone so it recognises it, then it tells u to turn it off so u just rebot again and then just do as it says and you can simply option restore using the same custom FW as before, no need to go back to 3.0 or anything...i had the exact same problem. sadly i tried jailbreaking at 2 in the morning cos i foolishly thought it would be a fast process!

anyone try installing it after the mobilesubstrate upgrade cos that fixed winterboard issues?

ActivateMMSG2 will simply not work as many other "patch" based mods. Simply because the "frameworks" binaries are not where they were before (and on Mac OS). I'm trying to find them, but without success. Till someone figure out where these binaries are not, it will be hard to update any package that is based on chaging any binary framework.
