Help!
Hey guys, I really need your help. I have an ipod touch 2g 8gb 3.1.2 and I tried the instructions fr deleting the unneeded launch daemons. here's what I did:
I put the Lanchdaemons folder from my ipod to my desktop on my mac.
I renamed the original on the ipod to the suggested Lang daemons orginal
I deleted the daemons that we're recomended as unnessescary. (the file on the desktop)
I didn't figure out how to change the permissions on the file on the desktop (the one I was working with)
I rebooted my ipod (stupid)
It won't go past the pinapple logo
So basically I have the original Launch Daemon folder on my ipod but renamed"Launch daemon original"
the ipod wont show up in my itunes, or disk utility! is there a way to go into it from terminal??
Please help! TX

Before you restore, try and see if you can ssh with the pinapple logo. It worked for me when I was messing around with these files and goofed.

All MobileSubstrate extensions disabled:

All MSS extentions enabled and no Winterboard:

Pretty stoked, I'd always hang around 42mb free after a memory clean with Winterboard (It was just a wallpaper and icons, but I've found layered theming takes a huge hit to the devices resources). I haven't tried deleting the language packs yet, last time I did that things went a bit iffy.Last edited by WaLLy3K; 10-26-2009 at 08:23 PM.

when you say mobilesubstrate disabled, do you mean installed buy disabled in sbsettings?
What are MSS extensions?

Did you reboot the phone after removing the daemons, and freeing memory with sbsettings?

Download sbsettings then open it and tap processes and at the bottom tap free memory and it will free memory.

The memory gain is fairly negligible, I now get about maybe 2-3MB more than I once did for a total of 60-61MB free under ideal conditions.
However, what is unarguable is the speed boost. There's less crap bogging down the system, so everything runs FAST! You won't be able to background an obscene number of applications like the virtual memory hack, however you will be able to run what you once were able to much faster.
