I rebooted after I posted my previous post, and NO, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!

It's working perfectly. I tried Notes.app to check if the normal english dictionary still works, and guess what, it WORKS!!!
So it's safe to delete, i'd say. But DO make a backup, just in case!

Any noticeable increase on battery life? Just wondering cuz I'm assuming background processes take up some batterly life too. Eliminating some of the daemons, had anyone noticed an increase on battery life on a 3G?

I can't really say anything about battery life, because I didnt delete any daemons (except the crash report ones), because I messed my phone up before. I just delete files which waste space on my phone, which certainly does make the phone a lot snappier.
Sowi, cant help you with that. :/
Maybe someone else can comment on the battery life.

thanks tho.
I'm at work so I can't try it yet :P i just wanted to know cuz I have only had my phone off the charger for 3 hours and I'm down to 66% when I barely use it (besides right now). I was hoping to find out if anybody has a battery life increase by removing the max amount of daemons possible or at least close to the max. Preferably an input on 3G phones would be nice

Well I personally noticed that using the internet a lot, sux for my 3G.
If I just play games, watch movies or listen to music, it's not that bad.
But anyway, I can use my phone for probably like 36 hours before I would need a recharge. But that's when I really supress my self. :P

Hey lol
Well I would say that I may not have a huge increase in the amount of RAM free (probably only gain 2-3MB), but it certainly has made the phone snappier! What I mean with this is that by removing those crappy language files and unnessecery file of the phone, it makes it run smoother, and a lot more stable!
I havent seen any side effects (yet lol), so I would say it's safe to delete the language files.
However I messed my phone up once by deleting a daemon which I shouldnt have, and it made my GPS not working anymore. So this time, I left my fingers from deleting too many daemons.
No, you dont need to change any permissions.
But make sure you keep a backup of all the files you delete, just in case.
Hope this helps.

@Melech518 - I did it 100% right

You are right about the cydia apps, on a fresh restore i get around 180mb free but with my cydia apps i get around 160mb to 170mb at the most free...
Main Cydia Apps Installed
Cydia (1.0.3030-62)
FiveIRows (No Gui)
FontSwap
Hunspell
iFile
inspell
Music Controls
PhotoShare Web
PushMod
ReflectiveDock
Safari Download Manager
SBSettings
Sleep To Lock
StatusNotifier 3.0
WeatherIcon
WinterBoard (No Lockscreen Themes)
YourTube
3G Unrestrictor
If anyone knows which of this is more memory heavy might be good to know lol
@Carlbgc - how much ram you got free on average on your 3GS and what deamons did you remove? Also did you remove language packs?
-

anything that uses mobile substratee eats up your ram. It looks like you have a lot of things that use obile substrate. Type in "mobile substrate" in cydia then hit remove or whatever. Dont confirm the action though, just see what apps you have that use it. Then from there, you can delete whatever apps you dont need.

Just did these along with the language pack removal and see no noticeable improvements. Free memory maxes out at around 45mb, with about 34mb free after fresh reboot. No marked improvements in reboot times.
I'm not complaining, I guess i'm glad everything still works after the operations. Wish I had a 3gs so I wouldnt have to mess around with these type of things.

Just to tell you all, permissions DO NOT need to be changed.I was confused as to what to do with that for a while, then a friend of mine who did this without changing permissions told me it was fine.I tried it out and no problems so far. It's been two days.Anyways,I'm still deleting language packs, and removing over-written theme images, but with the *very* few launch daemons I've deleted,I've noticed a HUGE speed increase.Tap Tap Classic no longer lags, and maybe it does just the littlest bit on Through The Fire And Flames which is actually a pretty fast song. After a fresh respring,I get around 35mb,and I've only done the default apps for language packs.Theres still a ton to delete,as well as those for the new method jdys figured out. When I free up memory with SBSettings I get roughly 45 and with a second memory clear up I've gotten to 52ish but I believe I got up to 54 once.

So wait.. Where's a complete list of everything that's safe to get rid of, and how to do it safely?
Don't forget to say THANKS!
