I copied LaunchDaemons file to my computer for a backup but instead of deleting the files from the iPhone i just renamed them with i file( put a 1 in front of the file names) and that way i can put them back into use if i need to. Oh and im getting 167MB of free ram now (3GS). But without the daemons running in the background it also frees up the proc to run a little faster. Will deleting language files help a lot? From what i have read it is best to only delete the ones from the applications files. Is that true?
If anything was usefull a thanks would be great!

well, i did this and the language packs, and noticed a huge improvement in performance. then today i turned it off for school ( i know, who turns their phone off for school?) anyway, i did, and i turned it back on, it boots, goes to a black screen, then tries to boot all over again after a few minutes. i guess i deleted something i shouldnt have, but after replacing the launchdaemons folder with my backup, still the same problem. that must mean i deleted a .lproj i shouldnt have.
guess its time for a restore.... really wish i didnt have to do this.

i went manually... you have to watch it b/c in about 6 folders they stuck "Support" files and in about three there is another file stuck in the mix. Meh, i know i deleted one in /SYSTEM/LIBRAY/FRAMEWORKS/addressbookui.framework and my phone still works just fine.
edit: how the f do i turn off the stupid pop up for facebook... yeah im dumb and it locks up my computer and/or doesnt post b/c of that and im pulling my hair out trying to figure out where and why i did that.

Hey guys just wanted to report my findings! I'm using a 3GS on 3.0.1!
Ok so i deleted most of the "safe to delete" deamons from the guide then rebooted, before reboot 159mb free ram after reboot 161mb free ram! This wasn't enough of course lol so i then decided to delete Every language pack in the phone other than english/en using ifile, it took me over an hour and trust me if there was a lproj that wasn't english on this phone AnyWhere, theres not now! Free ram after several reboots still 161mb!
Then after realising this isn't that effective on a 3GS (unless you delete system heavy processes that will in turn fudge your phone up and defeat the object of having it in the first place) i deleted the modded "launch daemons" folder and restored the original (backup) rebooted and guess how much free ram i had now... 164mb
I'm not saying this doesn't work or it does i'm just reporting my findings on a 3GS... Hope it helps
Matt
