wow, a lot more posts in this thread than i expected. the problem is because i was activating 2.x themes on 3.0
since this is the problem, do i just edit the .plist files to use older themes?

"there are two lines in the info.plist located in your theme's folder that have to do with the status bar. Delete both of them then reactivate the theme and it should work. Also deactivate solid status bar in winterboard"

I suk, guess you win sorta, we'll have to wait for him to report back. Huh shouldn't have drank all that Goose last night. What I have read before is that it was the Solid Status Bar in Winterboard or a theme statusbar.png file in a theme. I guess that to cure the .png problem you could edit the .plist

Oh well live and learn. Moral of the story, don't bet against Stealthy ((especially when your buzzed)) he is a plethora of iPhone knowledge and the Wizard of Apple devices.

I don't want to jump in the middle of this conversation, but i just erased the info.plist file and i stopped losing my status bar also. I am so glad for this post because it has been getting me so mad that it would go black on me. Thank you for the fix!!!!!
