Ready To Give Up (WINSCP, iPhoneBrowser)
Hello,
New member here, but I've been browsing the forums ever since I got my iPhone.
A little background on my device:
-iPhone 16GB 3GS on AT&T
-3.0 Software
-Jailbroken with Purple Rain
My computer is running Windows Vista 64-bit.
My problem: I cant, for the life of me get WinSCP, iphonebrowser, or iphone tunnel suite.
I installed OpenSSH (5.2p1-8), AutomaticSSH (1.4a-2), and Toggle SSH (2.1) on my iPhone via Cydia.
I downloaded the latest version on WinSCP 4.1.9 and have it installed on my compter.
So I open the application, enter my ip address, enter the user name (root) and password (alpine), hit save. I go back to my iphone and open the ssh app and hit ENABLE. I go back to my computer and hit login. When I do that I always get a permission error. The WinSCP site says I dont have permission to access, change, blah, blah, blah, any files or folders.
Is this something I have to do(change) on my iphone or cumputer or some sort of other problem?
This is really starting to piss me off, all I want to do is add some icons for my iElegance theme and be able to add roms if I install any emulators.
I'm also having problems accessing my files through iphonebrowser and the iphone tunnel suite, but I believe those are issues with the programs and Vista 64-bit.
I've searched the forums and tried every suggestion, even though it may not pertain to my problem in hopes that I can get anything to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I'm ready to give up on this, even though all the tutorials make it seem like its a fairly simple thing to do.
Thanks

you are not supposed to have an ssh app. all you need is openssh from cydia and then u are good to go. also make sure your iphone and pc are connected through the same device in case you have access points in your house

I'm sorry if I caused some confusion. I didn't mean I have a SSH app, what I was reffering to was that I open the app with the blowfish on it (SSH Daemon) to "enable" the SSH function.

stop using winscp and itunnel aswell..... go to iFunBox.com and download iFunBox its free and it uses your USB cable to gain access to your iphone.... less hassel and super simple.... also it allows you a visual look at every file in your iphone as you would see them on your PC...!!

Okay here's your problem. Or well a good educated guess at your problem. Its mostly in the router. I can say for a fact an Belkin router lists it as a security problem and won't let it go through. I am now using linksys and can use any ftp program. I either use winscp wirelessly, or iphonebrowser via wired connection.
and if you the problem lies in you using vista 64 bit, right click on iphonebrowser and go into properties and change compatibility mode to windows xp sp2 or windows vista sp1.Last edited by slidingmike; 08-24-2009 at 06:59 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Thanks for your replies. I will try all of your suggestions. The only program I found that worked is Diskaid, it's cool, but limited. So I wouldnt mind being able to SSH.
