"import" sms.db and notes.db on FW3.0?

When I upgraded from FW2.2 to FW3.0 I ended up wiping my iPhone completely, and also reinstalling iTunes (and thus wiping all the backups).

I have the original sms.db and notes.db from my 2.2 iPhone.

Does anyone know how to get those databases back on my FW 3.0?

I tried copying the files, no go.
Tried opening the files in a SQLite editor, adding whatever information was missing from the old to the new db, but that didn't work either

- After upgrading make a new note
- Overwrite the notes.db file with your old notes.db
- Set owner to "mobile"

Tried it on 2 iPhones (2G and 3G) and it works 100%

Yea, the problem is most likely permission and/or ownership issues. The best way to be sure, it to add a note and contact, then check their permissions/owner. Replace with your backups and set the same.

I don't care too much for my notes, but can anyone confirm a 2.x sms.db working on 3.0???

yes, i can confirm.

SSH in to your iPhone, delete the /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS/sms.db and sms-legacy.db files.
Upload your 'backup' sms.db and set owner to mobile (via WinSCP, command, open in terminal; or use putty).
Use the following command:

Code:
chown mobile: sms*
Reboot your iPhone and send an sms. It'll fail and give the option to re-send. It'll work after that.
the sms-legacy.db file is re-created after that.

i will try this when i upgrade soon and post back. thanks so much

have you tried the notes.db or the call_history.db?

If this doesnt work, I plan on backing up with itunes,
restoring to 3.0
trying this method and if it doesnt work,
restoring the backup
and copying the new 3.0 .db's out and re-restoring to 3.0 if i want to
