Maybe I'll notice a different when I get in my car but even just sitting at home it doesn't seem significantly lower. ::shrug:: I'll just text everyone with my fancy landscape text. :-)

This 100% does not work, I tried the mod, changed permissions with cyberduck. Then at work next day I tried it next to a pals iphone on a song i had given him. We set the eq the same and no difference. I also tried it on loudspeaker phone call exactly the same. 4get it!!!!!

Some of you might have been using Volume Boost since the 2.x days and are missing it for 3.0. Here's the procedure for enabling it for 3.0. It's reported to boost the volume by 20%, which is a lot.

    1. Start by downloading the attachment below.
    2. Extract the contents somewhere convenient.
    3. SSH into your iPhone through WinSCP or cyberduck.
    4. Navigate to the /System/Library/PrivateFramework/Celestial.framework/ folder.
    5. Locate the file RegionalVolumeLimits.plist and rename it to RegionalVolumeLimits.bak.
    6. Copy over the RegionalVolumeLimits.plist file you extracted in step 2 to the iPhone's /System/Library/PrivateFramework/Celestial.framework folder
    7. Set permissions to the RegionalVolumeLimits.plist to 0777.
    8. Reboot the iPhone.
    9. Dance.

    can anyone confirm this works?

    Here's what I did:

    1. Add http://fishbone.ge into your Cydia sources
    2. Scroll down to Volume Boost for 3.0 package
    3. Install
    4. Close Cydia
    5. Reboot (habit of mine)

    6. Enjoy

Edit: The difference is definately noticable.

I modified the file via ssh. Dumb question: do I still need Volume Boost 3.0 in winterboard or can I uninstall it?

p.s. I didn't notice a difference in volume with Volume Boost 3.0 checked in winterboard.

Volume Boost 3.0 is no longer in their respitory I've SSH'd and change the plist file (didn't work), I tried using the one that runs off of Winterboard (didn't work), and now I am lost. My 2G is sooooooo faint for the ear piece volume. I cannot even hear someone while having my windows down going 25MPH in a car.

    Using iPhone 3G 3.1.2.
The speaker volume while talking to someone is too damn low, especially while driving.
So I have tried the SSH method mentioned and also the Volume Boost 3.0 cydia app, and nothing. there is no difference at all in the loudness of the speaker.
But I did install the Mail Sounds Volume Boost cydia app and that actually worked, the default mail sound is way louder. so that's one fix.
Now I am just want a way to boost the overall volume, someone fix this please!

side question: since I did the SSH method and it didn't work, should I undo the changes I made or just leave it? thanks.
    iPhone 4 / 4.3.1 / redsn0w
