MMS on iPhone 2g with OS 3.0

I found it while searching for a solution..seeing if anybody else had a thread going somewhere.

I would test it myself..but I went through some hell trying to get my phone back to 2.2 after I tried 3.0
and I'm not spending a bunch of time going to 3.0/jailbreak/unlock and then have to go back if it doesnt work..

tried messing around with it, if you have the apn the same for both it saves it but still wont send a MMS

Am i the only one having a problem sending a group sms. I tried sending a group sms and it would say error and at the top it says MMS even tho there is no media file

yea.. cool new "feature" is that there is no longer group sms. All group messages are now sent as MMS.

So my friends who don't have MMS don't get my messages, sucks ***.

If you turn off MMS it'll send as a group sms, and I've read on other forums that you can still receive MMS, (but I haven't confirmed this)

That's a bug in 3.0. The 3G has the same problem. I has nothing to do with the 2G MMS hack.

ok so i did this and i got the menu and everything; main problem is when im entering the settings APN doesnt save? i wonder why.. the MMSC and MMS PROXY saves so has anyone ahd a problem with the APN?



EDIT: .. well the APN got saved after the .ipcc from t-mo but still doesn't work .. had to give it a go x] but it doesnt send.

Well, I got it to save the APN, display me the MMS Switches and the MMS Controls in the Messaging App, but it still doesn't work. I get the following:

Ok, so I tried MMS Howto for iPhone 2G with OS 3.0 - Shanghai Expat.

I have uploaded the M68AP.plist and AppSupport files from that thread, but my iPhone didn't display any Cellular Data Network settings option.

I edited my carrier.plist file to enable the option and like for so many others it didn't save the settings. Couldn't send a MMS so I decided I'll give up for now and went to iphonenodata.com to disable EDGE (I don't need nor want EDGE) and it turns out thanks to that my MMS settings are saved. Still can't send MMS though.

Thought I'll just let everyone know, maybe it might give someone some ideas, I don't know.

System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.frameworks/Support

Can anyone compare the 2G and 3G files and see if there's anything about mms there?
I can provide both files if necessary.

Pay for it? Now way Jose. I mean it's one thing paying for the 2.x firmware language/keyboard support, when it was non-existent; this time, to pay for something that's there, and patched (not re-programmed or added) no. To heck with MMS. Only if it was given out to the public, no money. Apple got my money initially and they should have included it as a feature!

Guys I believe we need a further patched version of CoreTelephony binaries etc. Don't try to mess with the ipcc files just yet...

You should probably just wait for the final patch to be released before bothering with anything. Nothing released so far actually allows you to send an MMS...

I am willing to pay for the time it took/takes the person to make MMS available on our 2G's since Apple decided to forget about us. I bought my 2G back when it was not required to activate at the store, guess who my provider has always been???
