I've read a few Russian forum pages and it looks like this geniusan user who posted the video looks for some kind of reward, although he is not sure what exactly he is planning to do. But hte other guys in the thread are also digging, so the chances are we will see the patch in public domain very soon.

New development there is that you don't have to replace AppSupport file, but there's other way:

1) Add the following code to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/M68AP.plist

<true/>

2) Then everything goes to the function -[CTMessageCenter isMmsConfigured] which is located in CoreTelefony framework and always returns false. Temporary patch (author suggests that this needs to be sorted out properly): download link

After this you will get MMS switch in setting, which will properly enable and disable Camera icon in SMS app. But during sending you will get following in the log:
80.504 mms: unable to send message: MMS not configured

Here's the CoreTelephony patch from the iphoneapps.ru thread

Place it in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework (after backing up!)

The original CoreTelephony file and this hacked one differ in two places, one has 2 bytes difference and the other 20 bytes. I think there's more patching needed. So NO ONE managed to send MMS despite the proper settings in the General > Network > Cellular Data options?

i noticed in the log dependencies on com.apple.springboard.plist and Springboard.app. so, i copied the two over from 3g firmware and now my phone wont reboot. i think its because my plist file contained a dependency to madvLock, which runs directly on the springboard. i wish it would let me ssh so i could have a chance!

i did notice a difference between the plist file on 2g and the one on 3g.

after i restore *tear*...i am going to try just copying the difference instead of the whole file.

I used a backup of the AppSupport and modified the CoreTelephony and now the toggle switches appear on preferences>Messages
I still can't send mms but my mms setting are correct

I will attach a zip containing the modified and original files of the CoreTelephony and AppSupport.

I can also confirm that on the iPhone 3G, if you disable the 3G, you can still send mms messages. I think this is good right?
