Of First of all....

1)Download the attached rar file, "Vfdecrpt"

a)In this archive, you will see certain files. Place all them in a new folder titled "3GS 3.1" (or w/e u like!)

2)Get a copy of the 3GS 3.1.ipsw firmware...

a)Change the extension from .ipsw to .zip

b)Open up that archive and copy/paste all the files from there to the recently created folder (from step 1a)

3)Navigate to that new folder (if you havent already) and run "cmd" (Command Prompt)..[I usually run it with Adminstrator privelages]

4)type in the follwing command AS IS (I suggest just copy/paste):

vfdecrypt -i 018-5344-086.dmg -o DEC3.1.dmg -k B9CD10DD88AB615C1963E8AA04950B12DD64E0E5B11EA63C79A02AF6DB62334C710D21DA

5)Wait a while..and you should see some progress on cmd..then it should finish..and in your folder you should get a "DMG" image called: DEC3.1.dmg

a)You can download HFSExplorer to view the dmg/mac images!

6)Enjoy!

I think I'm on to something with video recording, except they change the files around alot, if you now add the videorecording part to the plist file, it makes your iphone an ipod touch 3g, which all those people on vc, may be interested in knowing that!

the files that i received earlier where not dycripted or at least not right, so I need someone with an active 3gs filesystem to get what i need

^ur doc.file doesnt seem to open correctly..try to just get the plist from ur iphone then if u have it modified......
but yea the decrypted firmwares dont give you 100% of the files as the majority of the 3.0 ones we got from someone who uploaded his entire filesystem...though u have the basics in the decrypted image..u dont have the necessary launchdaemons,etc..

well the decrypted file is in dmg format, you have to open it with HFSExplorer and use it to extract it to a separate folder, I packed it all in one splitted archive, i am just kidding about the lazy part

if we dont get near this, we should compare the ipod touch 3g filesystem to the new ipod touch with cam filesystem and see what files they added for vidoe recording? thats if the ipod even gets vide recording

there is no ipod touch with a camera, so do you mean the the ipod nano? And, the hack that once worked in 3.0 to enable the video recording feature, it dosn't work any more, it still gives you the stupid ipod touch, I think this is a baseband issue

ok, what apple has done is that they realized that people started hacking the iphone to get video recording to almost work, so what they did was put the video recording file in another plist, what we have to do is fine out what plist that is... anyone have an idea?

So I did a search through the 3gs filesystem today and once you dycript it, just rename .dmg to .zip then add .zip to the biggest file in the file you extracted, then you dont need that viewer program, but I found what I think is the most important file to video recording, so I'm going to add it to my phone and see!

Edit: ok after further working with this, so when you add that value to the plist it gives you the ipod touch, apple did this on purpose, but what they also did, was in another plist file somewhere else, who knows where, they added a value that says load iphone, not ipod touch plus video, but this file they did not include in the 3g, on purpose, of course, so we need to find that plist file!
