Default I need help! I want to add custom emoji icons to my iPhone.

I have searched and have not been able to find out how to add my own emoji icons to my phone. I have all the icons, I 'm not sure if I would have to replace the stock with my own or just add them. I cannot find the icons on my phone either when I ssh. Please help
I would have my URL here so you could hear our music but apparently that's sig spam. WTF?

I would like to know this also. I have extracted the files and have edited them and even have them on the phone replacing the icon, but when I press the key for my custom icon, it places the old icon in the text field.

I am using photoshop and have tried the black layer with 0 and 1 fill and still no luck. Appreciate the help!

Oh, and to keep it the same size, I am using save for web...if that matters. It's still a png file.

    They are in system/library/frameworks/UIKit.framework

    Keyboard-Emoji.artwork.

You have to extract the pngs using iphoneshop and import them back, but the format is very touchy.

When you say a download...you mean to enable these or to be able to change them? I already have them on my phone, but I want to be able to customize them.

Surely if you change them, you'll have to change them on the recipient's iPhone also for them to work?

Apologies if this is what you're intending to do, I'm just curious.

Yes of course, I realize that. I just keep having problems even replacing the images.

why don't use use winterboard..? yeah, you have import the artwork file. and just copy the name. make some png and put it in your winter board. I'm not really sure if actually the emoji receiver will be able to to see emoji on their phone if the emoji you sent is modded... I really have no idea. I only modded some to have my Carrier name li'l better with MIM

You can't add your own Emoji icons to your Phone, because anyone you send them to would not see them. They'd also have to have those same Emoji's on their phone under the same Hex code.

That's funny cause my wife's 2.2 3g can recieve all the emoji's i send to it and her phone is not even j/b. I'm kinda curious about adding emoji's also.

Nothing funny about it. Your wife can receive them because the Emoji's are a part of 2.2 FW, and she'll be able to see them whether her phone is JB or not. She just can't send them. Try sending some to someone with 2.1 FW then come back and give me the same smartass answer.

I understand the whole concept behind the images being in the firmware and that no one will be able to receive them unless they have the same images, but if you are like me, you probably have a small group friends you text more than anyone and it would be cool to make this happen.

I will try the winterboard route and let you guys know.

Update...Winterboard method doesn't work. Added pngs to UIImages folder and nothing.

That's exactly why I started this......I downloaded all the images I want to use for them, but I don't want to create them until somebody can confirm they can get them working.

bigred I think it might take more than just replacing an icon itself, there might be some plist editing or something of that nature.

I really hope someone figures this out because I have the most hilarious images to replace the stock ones with.

The best way is to mod the emoji artwork file replacing the images and keeping the size of each image identical to the one being replaced, import them in the artwork then send the artwork file to those friends that will be using ur modded emoji file.

Modded the emoji keyboard but the rest stays the same, i think the icons that appear typed use smaller images so i think there is some other file containing these images that need to be modded also.

Can you confirm that you have did this? I edited the images, imported the emoji file back to iphone. It will show in the list, but when you press it, the original image you edited will show back up.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Check what I've modded. It was a png24, transparent background, 4kb. For some strange reason, it adds the white space behind it and you can see when I press the icon, it show up as the building in the text line.

The problem you guys are having is that you're trying to change the emoji image in the artwork file, right? The emoji icons are like keys on the keyboard, so if you change a smiley face image to a frog, it'll look like a frog on the keyboard but when you push it it'll input a smiley. Just like theming the standard keyboard, you can change the image but not what gets input when you press it.... Unless you can..? I guess that would solve your problem. Hex editing or something maybe?

I wonder if it's actually a font? Is that possible?
