alarm.caf = alarm clock if no ringtone is selected?
ReceivedMessage.caf = Received SMS
RingerChanged.caf = when you change the ringer..?
SentMessage.caf = sent sms
SIMToolkitCallDropped.caf = if you drop a call youll hear this sound. its a beep beep beep. 3 shorts.
SIMToolkitGeneralBeep.caf = probably just one beep.
SIMToolkitNegativeACK.caf = ?
> not sure about these two..
SIMToolkitPositiveACK.caf = ?
SIMToolkitSMS.caf = ?
sms-received.caf = when you get an sms
Tink.caf = ?
> i think these are on the touch not sure...
Tock.caf = ?
unlock.caf = sound the phone makes when you slide to unlock
those are the ones i know/seem obvious as to what they would be...
Tock is definitely the keyboard note for SMS and Notes notepad. I am trying to find out what Tink is? Also, I've accidently overwritten both of these (Tink, Tock).. Is there anywhere to download the default .caf files?
If you copy the files to your computer and play them in Quicktime, you can probably recognize most of them. For example alarm.caf is the alert I hear when a calendar item is coming up.
Windows tool to edit .plist, .strings and .nib files: pledit.
Or use a website that will convert the binary form to a readable format.
On iPhone you can convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities from Cydia), or edit them with iFile (from Cydia).
i have an iTouch running 4.0. iphones and ipods get all of them, even tho ipod doesnt use half of them. i ssh'd them to my computer today and listened to them all. i still cant identify some of them. there are some new ones:
begin_record.caf - my guess is for audio recording
begin_video_record.caf - exact same as above, but for video i suppose
ct-busy.caf - ?
ct-call-waiting.caf - ?
ct-congestion.caf - ?
ct-error.caf - ?
ct-keytone2.caf - ?
ct-path-ack.caf - ?
end_record.caf - different sound from start, but you get the point
end_video_record.caf - see above
jbl_ambiguous.caf - ?
jbl_begin.caf - ?
jbl_cancel.caf - ?
jbl_confirm.caf - ?
jbl_no_match.caf - ?
shake.caf - ?
sms-received1.caf - possibly the same thing as sms-received was, seeing as how that is gone now. it might also by the push notification sound (its the same as voicemail.caf)
sms-received2.caf
sms-received3.caf
sms-received4.caf
sms-received5.caf
sms-received6.caf
sq_alarm.caf - ?
sq_beep-beep.caf - ?
sq_lock.caf - ?
sq_tock.caf - ?
as for the old ones, first of all, i have a theory for the following
long_low_short_high.caf
middle_9_short_double_low.caf
short_double_high.caf
short_double_low.caf
short_low_high.caf
If you listen to them, and have ever used bluetooth headphones/headset, they seem similar somhow
also, voicemail.caf and sms_received1.caf are 100% identical, and one of them has to also be the push notifications sound. anybody know which it is?
