Exclamation GPS disabled in Egypt, anyone can help?

The iPhone was released in Egypt, but unfortunately, the GPS chip is disabled due to legal issues. Looks like the iPhone or iTunes disables the GPS if it detects that the activation sim card is from the 60202 or 60201 carriers (Vodafone Egypt or Mobinil).

I've been searching through the iPhone system files for anything to mention GPS with no luck. Does anybody have an idea where the GPS settings might be?

Ummm, the 3g ISNT unlockable so that not gonna work. That feature is encrypted and until the baseband is unlockable via software....I doubt you will be able to access it.

They might have been referring to bypass activation. I don't know if you found a way yet, but have you tried removing the sim (after activating) and seeing if it works? I can access my GPS without a sim, it just takes a minute or two (just like when I do have it in.) And I am just curious is "My Location" block also?

Just downgrade firmware to custum 2.02.
