I found this thread after having a similar problem - I screwed up my SpringBoard.strings file.
I found a "virgin" file on this site, and loaded it into the phone, and changed the "slide to unlock"
file by converting the file to XML using Mobile Terminal as
described in another thread on this site.
So far, everything is great, except I am still missing the number on the Calendar app.
I compared the strings above with the ones in my SpringBoard.strings file, and they are
exactly the same. Also, when I uploaded the "virgin" SpringBoard.strings file to the phone,
the calendar number is still missing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Edit: Just wanted to post a followup...
Somehow the
MobileCal Patch in Boss Prefs was selected - I deselected it, rebooted, and the icon is back!
Just a heads up for anyone else having the same problem ;-)
