I don't think thats possible, since it requires a chipset capable of receiving the 3G based signal. Kinda like a laptop with a 802.11a/b/g wireless card trying to utilize the signal from a wireless N router, it's not possible.
I could be wrong, but that's just my take on it.

Wouldn't be possible, it lacks the hardware....
That was the whole reason of upgrading to a 3g iPhone!
lol

hardware, hardware, hardware.
you'd need atleast a 3G chipset, weather its plugged into the port or built like on a 3G iphone.
needless to say, it still wont be cheap.
your best bet is to sell your 2G and buy a 3G, alot of ppl have done this for profit even, as long as your 2G is in good shape, unlock it and CL/ebay it

Will never work....as the hardware required is different. Even transplanting the internals from a 3g iphone to a 2g (which would be kinda dumb anyways) wouldnt work as the whole internal structure is different between the 2 phones.

Even if you don't know anything about hardware and software, you should know enough to realize that if this was possible it would have already been done and people wouldn;t be buying 3Gs at all LOL (well unless for some reason they really NEED the plastic case over the aluminum)

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

screw the plastic case! aluminum ftw!
it would be nice to have that fast 3G network on the 2G phones, but sounds like a wild dream. i read that the EPC apn runs on the 3G network, which works wonders for me. moves faster than wap anyday.mrsidewayzz

well i just found out some cool news that may apply to this poll.....T-mobile is now linking thier 3g network using thier epc.tmobile.com Settings. i heard this on a post here and clarified it with a t-mobile rep and they confirmed this is true. so if you are on t-mobile you should see these speeds in the near future if not already
