I want to restore my iPhone to 1.1.4 so I can have a fresh and clean start but I want to keep my messages. I have looked in various folders and haven't been able to find them anywhere. If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated!

when you restore it says after its done do you want to load as new phone or load as (your name's) iphone click the second one and everything will be put back on like widget data and sms's and calls

Or use iphone pc suite to manually make backups of what you want.

I'm not a noob. =P
I have been having problems with my phone, where various settings weren't working and it was suggested that I restore and and load as a new phone.
Also wanted to start a fresh with 1.1.4.

I'm using a mac, but its ok, I eventually found it. The file wasn't in the same place as on the other versions because of the mobile folder on 1.1.3. the new path where messages are stored is:

/private/var/mobile/Libary/SMS/sms.db

For anyone interested that is.
I didn't wanna loose my messages. There was some important ones ;]

I also found this, but Matt how do u open the sms.db? I tried using it as a txt file in notepad but it shows the messages and a scrambled type of text.
