Backup and restore Just Contacts?
I want to wipe my iphone but want to make sure I can restore my contacts, anyone know how I can do this? I don't want to choose backup when I restore it, as I don't want anything else including the file structure which was modded by bosstool.

Manually backup the file
,
but make sure your restoring to the exact firmware to avoid risks!
The directory the has your contacts is "/private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook"...
Copy the files within the directory to your new wiped iphone
.
Hope I helped

The aptbackup does not work for me. It just sits there spinning when you try to restore after installing new firmware. Yes, I waited long enough to see if it would finish...27 minutes.

02-09-2009, 02:25 PM #8Windows tool to edit .plist, .strings and .nib files: pledit.
Or use a website that will convert the binary form to a readable format.
On iPhone you can convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities from Cydia), or edit them with iFile (from Cydia).

If you use a mac, you can set it so the contacts sync back to you address book application on your comp. Then you can sync them through the info tab in iTunes.

Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup) and then use mdhelper on a Mac to find the right backup file and extract it.
