Save website Passwords on 2.x

I remember there was a mod for 1.1.x that corrected some internals about safari not saving cookies correctly from sites you visited or something along those lines. It made the browser remember the passwords better.

I loved it on my old phone. Many sites on 2.x I need to put the password in each time I visit the site, even if I tell it to rememebr the password.

Anything like this on 2.x yet? Or anyone know how to fix that manually? I think the old patch was just a permissions change, but I don't know what permissions or what file(s).

Thanks.

Do the following...

PhoneLine,

Try the following:

chown mobile /var/mobile/Library/Cookies/
chown mobile /var/mobile/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist

OR,

chmod 777 /var/mobile/Library/Cookies
chmod 666 /var/mobile/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist

Not my original info, came from a blog I found through Google.

I have this same issue and have to remember to do this quick fix via ssh anytime I restore new firmware. Good luck!

can you elaborate exactly what you mean by that? i am familiar with SSH, but those don't exactly look like instructions.

go to '/var/mobile/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist' via ssh and change permissions to 666

Thanks alot, I did this simple thing and it fixed my safari problem. Sometimes something seems to easy for it to actually work. I'm so use to having to get down and dirty with the file system, I forget to try the easy way. Thanks again.
