Has anyone attempted to modify the SMS app or Mail to allow horizontal keyboards? In most cases the horizontal keyboard is just a flag in the program to enable it.

Nope. Thousands of people haven't already asked for it. People haven't been crying about it since June 29, 2007. You are the first.

I understand this. Hell I mentioned it when we met with some people from Apple's iPhone development team. I was only wondering if anyone had tried to do something about it themselves. I guess I'll look into it more.

Third party apps have done it like mobile chat and smsd but nobody has done it to the default apple apps.
