Problem with smsd and mail

well i screwed up recently when spicy came out with the rc1 for customize, i turned on freeboard and 5 icon dock, restarted like it said to do and lost my phone to it, so i had no choice but to restore iphone(no problem because i had already backed up everything, luckily)...lol


so now my problem is every time i open smsd or mail it looks like or begins to launch and then just closes out un expectedly, any explinations?

should i go to the download section of this site and try to find the files and replace them?


sms opens and works fine, i delerted all sms's and still smsd wouldnt work, same goes for mail, deleted all accounts and restarted and still got the same problem

try using bossprefs to fix permissions on the home directory.

i tired you solution and to my surprise it failed, i pressed fix me and waited, launched mail, failed, restarted phone, still failed

funny part is my buddy had the same problem a long time ago and i coundnt remember how i had fixed it, then he mentioned suid library fix, i already had it installed so i un installed it, and re installed it....yet with the same end result

i even un installed smsd and re installed it, lol

premissions are 0755 on all apps

so any clue now, lol

btw i moved my applications directory so i would have plenty of space to d/l programs

would it matter if i have it like this(as long as i sym linked it correctly)

/private/var/mobile/apps

everything else is working fine, so i think its like a single file somewhere that was synced thats causing this problem

ok heres something interesting, any help would be nice


so im still trying to figure this mail and smsd thing out, and so ive been trying to get it to work, while i was messing with my phone i decided to just delete all the mail accounts i have set up

then open mail to see if it would work, nope
go back to general and mail, and what do you know, all the accounts are back again, makes no sense

so i delete them all again and restart phone-without opening mail app, and still same end result

i even added a new mail account and it auth when setting it up in general/mail but when actually launching the mail app it fails, and then when going back to general/mail new account is gone

this is so strange. . . . .
