my EDGE not working

was playing on my iphone today listening to some music when i noticed that the little E was completely gone....where i was there is no WIFI connection so i tried to connect to the EDGE service (rogers canada, have working EDGE before) but right away it says safari can't open the page and gives me a msg no wifi connections in range...i dont really want EDGE as it cost big bucks for us here in canada...but i dont want the feature disabled COMPLETELY...any help?!?

uhm, when you dont have edge you dont have reception, so how are you using your phone without edge?
