My case is:
Mine's 1.1.2 w/ 3.9BL (I assumed that coz some1 said it matches phone's serial number). I have several languages available in keyboard options but Japanese is not there nor Chinese. I've checked M68AP.plist and the boolean for key "International" is already set to true. It seems the language pack for Japanese is simply not there.. Any suggestions guys? Any input is appreciated..
Alright I happened to browse into directory /system/library/keyboarddictionaries and found a couple of .dat files that seem to be the "dictionary" file of what is showing up now in my keyboard setting page.. German,Italian,French,Eng(UK); yea these're the file names identical to my language options.. so I guess that's it
I guess I just need to get the corresponding japanese dictionary file.. if any1 would like to share

For anyone interested, I uploaded a file with all the dictionaries in my iTouch (in the /system/library/keyboarddictionaries folder).
It's got these dictionaries:- English
- English UK
- French
- French Canada
- German
- Japanese
- Spanish
- Italian
- Dutch
- Swedish
- Danish
- Norwegian Bokmal
- Finnish
- Polish
- Portuguese
If anyone tries to add them to their iPhone, can they write back and say how it works ?
Thanks

You can't just add them to your phone. That will do nothing.
Here is the best way to get all the supported languages onto your iPhone
If anyone wants Chinese then after doing the above installationIf you are on 1.1.3 or 1.1.4
then the best method that I have found is to add
http://repo.aakqtr.com
to the installer sources then
Goto BiOsS Modz
and
install *1.1.3* International...
Then Download
http://www.psedog.com/iphone/languag...e_wordlist.zip
First backup your wordlist.dat in the folder
/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework
Unzip the chinese_wordlist.zip and place the worldlist.dat into the folder
/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework
Use the Japanese keyboard and type using roman characters, your Chinese Kanji should come up no problem.

I cannot speak nor read Korean, neither can my wife, so here is a link that I found a couple of months ago. It should point you in the right direction. At least I hope so

If you find a solution, can you post it up here?
(I'll post it on the 15billion other threads/forums that I'm with for the iPhone)

thnx!
I know that site already.
The problem is that I don't speak korean.
My wife's english is very very limited.
I can't have her translate it.
doesn't even make sense when she does.
plus she has to deal with the baby all day.
thnx
god bless!
I was wondering if there's a source that has keyboard support for korean?
thnx again.

Is there a way to install just one keyboard dictionary??, can I just unzip the package, remove every other language and keep just the ones I want? I'm only interested in english (both language and keyboard) and spanish (only keyboard).
I have surfed arround. There are so many different ways that it's difficult to know which to choose.
Any help is appreciated it. Thanx

The download is 3.5 megs, I think you can spare that

Alright, I have an update.
The fkn repo source that normally gave us international languages has gone down yet again. I'm sick of them going down, so I did something about it.
Download this file in the link below. Unzip it and SSH into your phone to replace the relative files. Now, you don't want to delete the folders on your phone, these merge into those folders (this keeps the download small). Once you have replaced all the files, you will reboot your phone. Violla, iPhone w/ several languages
http://psedog.com/iphone/language/Ps..._iphone114.zip
If you want a Chinese keyboard. Then after you do the above, download the next file. Unzip it and navigate to the folder
System/Library/Frameworks/Uikit.frameworks/
Replace the file wordlist.dat
After you do this, then when you select Japanese for the keyboard, you will be able to type in Chinese
http://psedog.com/iphone/language/chinese_wordlist.zip
If you are wondering why certain parts of the phone are not in the new language when you change, it is because these files came from an iPod Touch firmware. iPod touch's don't have all of the same features like the telephone (duh, right!)Last edited by psedog; 06-11-2008 at 03:09 PM.
