this is to confirm that the 1.1.1 firmware update does deal with this issue, but does not completely solve it. I have recently upgraded to 1.1.1 and all received SMS are now displayed on the phone (short numbers and alphanumerical numbers). Sms from short numbers are running perfectly but messages with an alphanumeric sender show only the sender name, with an empty message, and a wrong date several years in the past.

Actually, firmware 1.1.2 fixes this issue. Updated about two weeks ago and so far no SMS was lost. So just update and get rid of this problem.

I do not use many 3rd party apps but so far 1.1.2 is even more stable and a real joy to use.

there is a available SMSfix on installer app for 1.1.1 so we can completely recieved SMS from bank and other masked number...
--------------------------------------------------
How to fix the SMS problem easily:

1. Open installer, and tap Sources, Edit and Add.
2. Type in http://i.unlock.no/ and Ok then Done.
3. Now tap on Install at the bottom and scroll down to the Unlocking Tools category
4. Install SMS Fix
5. When done installing, reboot your phone and it should work

Note: I have not throughly tested this, so there may be side effects i'm not aware of yet. But you can just uninstall the package to revert the changes. I only tested on 1.1.1. If you try to 1.0.2 and succesful pls report and post.

1.1.2 already solved this issue, better to update now. 1.1.2 is stable now
