How to raname applications by plMars

Hey everyone. After about 3 hours of trying to figure it out here it is. I renamed my applications.

Here is how you do it.

1) Download this file http://polishamericanrallyteam.com/L...ationNames.zip

2) The file inside is just a regular XML. Modify it to your likings the same way as you would modify DisplayOrder.plist

3) Upload to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/English.lproj

4) Reset your phone.

Fell free to repost this or even create a tutorial but give me some credit when you do.

thats funy i looked at that folder and didnt see anything in any of the 4 files that had the app names in it.

p.s. what did you open the string files in cause textedit doesnt display them right and i need to view some other ones

Use the file i left there because iPhone files are binary XMLs. Since i am on windows i had to figure out the format of the regular XML by myself. You can edit the file i uploaded with notepad and upload it to the phone and it will work just fine

oh my god is that a MicrosoftPhone... the mPhone.. i heard rumors about that the zune was going to have phone abilities but that is the same thing like apple.. someone is goin to get sued

i was about to ask the same question. i added a string line for maps because it wasnt in the plist but it didnt do any good.

Same here I tried .com.apple.maps and map and even .com.apple.google but no luck

OK! I uploaded the new file so it should be fine soon. You guys can add new key and string but "Maps" has to be spelled with capital "M".
