Hello, so after trying to jailbreak my NEWEST IPOD TOUCH 3RD GEN (With the newest Boot Roms) (MC VERISON), I found out they were not jail breakable just yet because of the boot rom.

Ok, so I went ahead and replaced that with the 2nd Gen Ipod, the version MB533LL .
Everywhere I read, the MB versions should have absolutely no problems getting jailbroken.

Was I wrong !
Excited to finally jailbreak the 2G,I ran blackra1n and got stuck at the same exact step as with my previous 3G....
"Stuck on Running" on Blackra1n...

I have tried so many methods now, I lost count.

The log suggests, there is something clearly wrong with the USB thing, however, I tried switching the ports, disabling antivirus, all to no avail.

Hello, everyone. I've been reading up on the world of jailbreaking iPod Touches for a couple of days now (reminds me of the PSP hacking scene), but a few things still remain unclear. I know that currently, 3.1.2 only has a tethered jailbreak. My brother has an Ipod Touch 32GB Third Generation, and I was wondering if it is possible to downgrade this to a firmware that has an untethered jailbreak? If not, I'll just wait until an untethered one is released. :) Thank you for any help you are able to provide.

Hi everybody now I didn't roam around the whole forum to see if people posted up what I will post now but I did find that many said that blackra1n and 3.1.2 firmware has a lot of bugs. To start off as you know already I have an iPod Touch 2G 8GB now let me tell you what happens to it when I jailbreak it. I've tried a million methods on trying to jailbreak it and still no luck so I've come for help. My iPod is on restored original firmware 3.1.2 I plug it in and click on "make it ra1n" on my iPod Geo's head pops up and then that little scroller shows and then as I saw many on YouTube it goes to the apple logo then to the lockscreen mode now for me after Geo's head pops up it goes straight to lockscreen. Yeah sure everything looks normal many of you will say oh it's jailbroken, correct, but the problem is that once I turn it off it goes straight into connect to iTunes mode and I have to press "make it ra1n" again to jailbreak it. Now I've tried downgrading but got wonderful 1600's/20's errors and I've tried quickfreedom nothing works I've tried all blackra1n's RC1, RC2, and RC3. I've just ran out of idea hopefully somebody and hear me out. Thanks a lot guys, bbsipodtouch help never replies so screw him.

My iPod touch 1G maybe bricked :(

Last Tuesday I installed an update for Mobile Substrate and Cydia asked me to restart the device. I tapped on the field which said restart and my iPod's screen instantly shut down. Then the Apple logo (of Death, ha) appeared only to vanish after about 10 seconds. Reminded me of the ALOD-Mobile-Watchdog-mess a lot of us experienced on FW 2.0 - but this is different:

1. Apple logo disappears faster (10 seconds)
2. Both iTunes and TouchCopy don not detect the device being connected to the PC
3. I tried iTunes' diagnostic routines in order to test USB connection: As far as iTunes is concerned my iPod does no longer exist :(

I cannot put it into DFU (or even Recovery) mode either - my Home-Button is broken :(

Is their any chance of putting an iPod into DFU without using the manual way of pressing buttons? Is their a software that could initiate DFU via USB?

I jailbroke my iPod using blackra1n and it works perfectly, until I power down the device. After doing this and turning it back on again, it goes to the 'connect to iTunes' screen and so far the only way I've found of getting out of it is a restore.

I was wondering if there is another way to get out of that screen, or simply a way to prevent it going into the screen.

Sorry if this has been answered before; I tried searching for it but no dice.
Thanks,
Also, I tried installing backgrounder but I had the same problem. I had to restore. Will BG work on my Pod if I can fix the power off problem?

Hi All,

Was just wondering, as I lost my other post I commented on about this.... was attached to someone else's, and now cant find it...

But, will there ever be, or is planned.... a new JB.. that will allow UNtethered Jailbreaks...??

As with regards to below, I am suffering this almost every other App Tap...

Quote:

If your ipt2/3GS/ipt3 is rebooting into recovery after running blackra1n, this isn't a bug. It's a feature. You need to run blackra1n every time to boot it. This 'feature', called tethered jailbreak, is enabled by upgrades Apple made to the bootrom and the fact ipt3 uses nand flash.

If I go to run Settings or AppStore or Cydia apps, it will crash out saying "Mobile Structure did not cause this, it prevented you from it.... restart... blah blah" and its getting a little annoying now!

Apparently it wont happen if its untethered, and never happened on redsn0w 3.0 - so, are there plans to make it untethered...??

If not, how easy is it to DOWNgrade my OS back to redsnow, and will I loose my apps if I do??

I've already restored my OS, using iTunes, and re-JB.... so, other than downgrading or waiting, not a lot of options! :(

Cheers,

I have an iPod Touch with really old firmware in it - 1.1.4. The last time I hacked it/jailbroke it was about a year ago, and the latest software was 1.1.4 at the time. I haven't touched my iPod since.

I wanted to upgrade it now but since I'm way behind, I don't exactly know what I should do... I know they released the 3G software awhile ago and it'd be nice to upgrade to 3G, but I have a few questions if I do so: 1) can and should i jailbreak it 2) what are the pros/cons of jailbreaking it, and 3) can I customize the icons and background like I used to do before?

Also, does anyone know where I can download the latest 3G software without having to pay $10?

Thanks in advancs

Hi guys.
I have this 16 gb 1G iTouch. And I had it jailbroken and working well.

So I then decided to do the system restore option under the settings applet of the iTouch. And that started out ok, the white progress bar under the apple logo was maybe at 5% and then I accidentally did a hard reset (holding down the home and power button for 10 seconds)...

Now, when I try to boot it up, the white apple logo shows for maybe half a minute and then dissappears. That's all that ever happens, no matter how many times I try and start the device.

Can someone help me? Please??

THanks! :D

Hi, the topic title basically asks the main question.
Has there been a workaround for the new 32 and 64 gigs versions yet ?
I am talking about the MC versions with new 359 iBoots.

I should mention that I have tried about every method to jailbreak it, and I always get stuck on the "running" screen with blackra1n.
Yes I have it in my root folder, yes I run as admin, yes I run in compatibility mode, yes I tried all sorts of tricks icluding holding the home button.
I have JUST bought the touch last week, it has the newest iBoot version as I am understanding, therefore I was asking if anyone was able to jailbreak it yet.

Thx in advance for any responses.

Problem with 32gb 3g Ipod Touch (Blackra1n)

Steps I've taken:

1. Download and run blackra1n
2. Configured Wifi and install Cydia
3. Install Diskaid on Windows 7 PC, Fileaid on Ipod Touch 32GB 3G

I try to select 'Root folder' at the bottom left within Diskaid and it reads "Sorry, you need to have a Jailbroken device to view the root partition."

I'm primarily doing this so I can edit a theme I like for my own personal usage. I currently can't find that theme on modmyi's directory under cydia's sources. (Lee's theme btw which can be found here)

What am I doing wrong? Does Blackra1n not 'jailbreak' the Ipod? It works fine and I can browse through Cydia without a problem. I'm very very new to the jailbreaking scene so I apologize if this question has been raised and answered before. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Edit: I'm on firmware 3.1.2 also.
