Voice Control lacking?

Hi there

In regards to the Voice control, is there any way of triggering the voice control to activate without using the home button? ie turn on voice control with voice control.

The scenario I see this working in is:

Tom Tom for Iphone + Tom Tom dock on car windscreen.

*driver turns off music*

*driver says "iphone"
iphone goes to voice control screen
*driver says "call 67438746"*

after the conversation:

*driver says "iphone"

voice control opens

*driver says "open tom tom"

I hope this makes sense.

Looking for certain features

I just updated my iphone and jailbroke it useing blacksnow, and now looking at cydia apps.

I dont see the hype about jailbreaking... so was wondering what apps people can recommend? And please mention if its free or paid :o

Also I have a few features that I'd like
Firstly is for smsing, 1 sms is 160 characters, and if I type an sms longer then 160 characters it gets split into 2 sms. Which is annoying.

So is there a way to see how many chars per sms I am sending.

Another is for calls, lets say I get a missed call. I cant see the exact time... it only gives vague statements like yesterday. or Monday. Is there a way to see the exact time they call?

RAM Decreasing

Hi guy's. Looking for a little help.

I have a 3G 16GB running 3.0.1 Jailbroken Running Whitesnow with Glasklart, Categories, SBSettings, sms counter and Backgrounder.

I generally don't use backgrounder much so nothing is kept running in the background. Have some other cydia installs like Cycorder and PPVideoenabler but nothing running constantly.

Basically if I turn on my iPhone I get about 42MB RAM ish.

As the minutes/hour tick by it gradually gets lower and eventually settled as low as 9 - 12 megs. And if I try and genius it crashes. If I respring it pops back up to 40 odd megs.

I have deleted all apps that I no longer use so it's as clean as I can make it without losing my look.

Anyone any ideas what may be causing this?

I'm getting to the point where I may have to upgrade but I really I love my set up now and I don't wanna lose it.

Any help, as always is much appreciated.

Root/Alpine don't work anymore!

He everyone,

Since today i got a problem when logging in by WinSCP or Terminal.
My firmware is 3.0.1
Normally i logged in by this why in WINSCP (without any problems):
Host name: (my ip adress) Port: 22
Username: root
Password: alpine
File Protocol: SFTP

But since today that doesn't work anymore.:(

I started searching on the internet and clicked on a tutorial that explained how to change your password by "Terminal".
That doesn't work either because it sais "incorrect login".

Is there any explanation for this? Am i doing something wrong?
I heard that it can also be a worm that's using the random password and username to get in.

Cydget Weather location and maps

Thinking maybe this would help some folks out there. I just installed Cydgets along with the Weda Panel. Then I customized the settings.xml file for Boston with the appropriate weather code and 6 animated radar gifs which I tracked down. I figured I'd pass along the settings.xml file which is set up sepcifically for Boston. Just go to:

/System/Library/LockCydgets/Weather.cydget/weda/Settings.xml

and replace the settings.xml file with this one:

I have a theme that works best when there are now words under each app saying what the app is. Like the word Fieldrunners appearing under the app fieldrunners. Is there a way to hide or delete the text? Also is it possible to edit the clock in the status bar and change it to something else.

Lockinfo Question

I've noticed that LOCKINFO superimposes itself on my caller images whenever I get an incoming call. It really clutters the screen with the caller image and then all the lockinfo information on top of it.
Is there a way to prevent lockinfo from displaying during an incoming call???

help! I can't get ANY apps from the 'big boss apps and things' source to download onto installer 3 (1st gen / 1.1.4)
I need a few basics, e.g bosstool, pdfviewer I know 1.1.4 ain't supported anymore, but aren't the old tried and tested apps still available? Frustratingly they are listed still in the installer and the source seems live but I'm getting 'package download error' for everything from the BB source. Can you help please big boss!? I'm after gem logic too!

Customizing Status Bar

I run Lockinfo which includes the time so having the time in the status bar is redundant.

D Tunes Error Reading Title

i just downloaded a torrent file including mp3 files...
and i made them ready to play with the terminal tool (./gettorrent)

but when i browse the files and hit them to play, it takes time to open up the music player and then the following message appears:

iRealQuickSMS Problem

I am having a problem with the app iRealQuickSMS.

Everytime I try to type my message in the little box, the letter's don't appear but the word count does increase.

Any ideas?

I hardly ever post here anymore but I wanted to share this with you guys.

uninstall your current version and then install the beta

This is a preview for iRealSMS 3.0
We hope you like it... this redesign took MONTHS to complete and many
many man hours for the two of us... especially Chris(the developer).
There were many trials when doing this as we suffered from frustrating
nights where we thought things were not possible, many safe mode crashes
and firmware updates, that complicated the update process. But in the
end we have the product that we envisioned!

The app itself is a completely new application re-written from scratch..
this was not a simple facelift to the current iRealSMS 2.0 version. We
have brought our user interface to the next level and designed it to
mimic that of the Apple Messages application but is open to many more
functions. This UI update is long overdue and is FULLY MMS SUPPORTED!
(for those who have MMS available already in their messages app) In the
main app, and in the QuickReply/QuickSend !!

FYI: iRealQuickSMS will get an update, but not till the iRealSMS 3.0 is
complete.. please note that iRealQuickSMS will primarily be bug fixes as
many things will be exclusive to the main app iRealSMS 3.0.

I'll answer your questions, but I'll for the most part just let the

QuickSend now uses the same search parameters as the messages app... you have TOTAL access to your contacts list, both phone numbers and email addresses... so if you want to send a QuickSend to an email address... DO IT !! This has all kinds of benifeits! If someone it texting you from their computer via their email, then you can hold an online conversation from your quickreply!

NOTE: both QR & QS has the ability to insert pictures from your picture
albums/rolls from anywhere in the operating system but not the ability
to launch the camera app and take new pictures.

I hope this puts a little bit of excitement back into my user base, because I know it feels like we have have been doing nothing the past 4 months... but we have been working like crazy for you guys.
