Let me know what you guys think

Vibrate switch issue

I've done some research and it seems that I'm not the only one with the vibrate switch going off by itself. The problem is when I set the switch to...

I've done some research and it seems that I'm not the only one with the vibrate switch going off by itself. The problem is when I set the switch to vibrate mode, all it needs is a little tap and it jumps from normal then right back to vibrate again. This is a problem because as you know once you jump back to vibrate mode, the phone actually vibrates. Sometimes when I walk, the phone vibrates and I think it's a text but it's actually not or sometimes it acts on its own as if it was possessed and it switches back and forth. Of course this issue only happens once it's clicked in to vibrate mode. The button itself looks alright from the outside and it still clicks in. Nothing feels loose; it just switches modes by itself or with little force.

Obviously this is a hardware problem and the only way to fix it is by opening it up. But before I do so I need to ask a few questions. And yes my warranty period has passed.

1. Do I need to buy replacement parts? Something like This? For the tutorial found here, do I need to buy a new circuit like the one on step 23 and not just the plastic button? I mean it could be because something inside is out of place and all I need to do is put it back into place?

2. Could I just put a drop of alcohol through the switch in hopes that it'll clean on junk inside? Therefore I wouldn't need to open it up? Is there any harm in doing that?

3. Could I get away with fixing it by just opening it and moving it around? I could be that I dropped it once and the connection is just loose and need to be put back in place?

Thanks in advanced.

Thank in advance I have a 2g 8gb iphone.

how to tell is the comm board working or not?
first my problem was that my battery won't charge after i pulled out the plate for the black and white line... but it does allow me to turn on the phone sometime when it get a little power.

But yesterday i was going to create the jumper and hope that it will fix the problem. After i separate the logic board from the comm board, i decided to test to see does my logic board work so i plug in the battery and turn on the power(without the comm board), it does show me the apple logo then it turn off, so i guess my logic board is fine. and i try to test it again with the comm board together, it show the same thing. does that mean the the comm board is broken? or is there anyway to test to see does the comm board working or not?

well now that my phone wont even turn on now. not even sometime
so does anyone know what creating this problem?

If i buy a new comm board, will my memory be erase?

Hey guys I have an iphone 3G 16Gb White, i got it through Rogers and its been one year since i got it. For the first time in the long time i got the TomTom app and try my gps. I turned my Location Service ON and WIFI ON,but when i open the app it shows a pop saying do you want to use your location. I click yes and when i try to navigate to a place it says Waiting for signal i left it for more than 30mins still no signal. So i thought i might give it back to Apple, but the issue i have is that mine is jailbroken, and i know if you do that it will void your warranty. So will it be safe? and what should i tell them when i take it to them, because TomTom was a cracked app as well.
So anyone had this issue that can help me will be great.

iPhone 3G Tempeture Warning?

Alright, this is a first for me hope someone can help me with this issue. Apparently Apple has a temperature sensor on the iPhone 3G that will...

Alright, this is a first for me hope someone can help me with this issue. Apparently Apple has a temperature sensor on the iPhone 3G that will essentially shut the phone down if it gets too hot. You can read a little more about it here:

Apple Issues Heat Advisory for iPhone 3G, 3GS - Gearlog

So here is my issue. The phone I am currently working with will go to the Apple logo screen for approximately 15-20 seconds, will go to the springboard for a half a second, display the temperature screen for another 2 seconds and then turn off. I know for a fact that this phone is operating under normal temperatures, which leads me to believe that the sensor has somehow malfunctioned. I have looked around Google for the past hour or so and can not find out where on the logicboard the sensor is.

Has anyone else ever had this issue? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

So I decided to remove the logicboard to check for any corrosion (from some additional reading it appears that water damage can cause the temperature warning). I found a small amount of corrosion near the battery contacts. I cleaned it off with some alcohol, but the phone back together, and everything appears to be working fine!

I am not sure if the temperature sensor is near the battery contacts or what, but I have to assume they are somewhat related.

Hope this helps some one!

Hey fellas.

Hey fellas.

So I've been getting the following message on my iPhone for a while now.

This accessory is not made for iPhone
Would you like to turn on Airplane Mode to redue audio interference? You will not be able to make or receive calls.

Yeah, another one of those threads. Thing is, I've looked around a lot and never really found a solution to the problem, so I'm guessing it's a hardware one.

Apparently there's a way or getting rid of that message using SSH, but I don't want to do that. The reason being, when the message appears, the music part of the phone does not work. The volume control disappears temporarily.

How this happened? Well I dropped my iPhone in the summer and the screen cracked. I went to get it fixed in a local shop and they replaced it with a new screen, but I kept getting that message. This is, sometimes the iPhone will be fine for a few days and I won't get any prompt to turn on Airplane mode and sometimes, the problem persists every minute.

The only thing that makes it go away is when I connect it to a dock similar to http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetm...one_dock_1.jpg

So since it's a hardware problem, I'd like to know exactly what it is. I live in Dubai and I haven't been able to find an Apple store that can repair my iPhone. So I come to you geniuses out there to tell me what's causing this, and whether I can fix it on my own.

Much love,
Al.

Do any of you fellas any suggestion to soft fix it. I cant sent it to service, since I am abroad.

I can hear motor trying to turn, like little click sound. So that means it is hardware for sure, I mean could the program sending pulse may be modified. Can it be software still, anyway to fix with ssh.I tap, I shaked nothing. I ınstalled bunch of messagers, nothing.

Hello,

I recently took my iPhone 3G to the gym, and while I was there, did something terrible to it. It was either the sweat or it smacking forcefully into a dumbell but now the backlight is no longer working.

I looked through forums and used google to try to solve my problem- leaving it in a bag of rice and silica for a couple of days, before finally cracking the little SOB apart.

I checked the cable connections and put the phone back together. Still no backlight. Then I separated the LCD from the glass. Looking at the LCD, I see that there is a rainbow spot with what looks to be a crack down the middle (see attached photo).

At this juncture, I'm led to believe that the damage to my phone was caused by impact... And not water... Whatever the case may be, what do you kids think out there?

EDIT: I should also note the the phone gets pretty warm when I charge it... Not any warmer than usual though, really...

After replacing the battery in my iPhone 3G, I am basically getting "No Service". I am able to get service and make calls only when I am VERY close to a cell tower. Everything else works perfectly fine including Wifi.

All the cables are secure and I see no visible damage to any part of the logic board. From reading this board I learned that the antenna connection to the logic board is done by the copper "tooth" on the lower right side of the logic board. Is this correct?

Does anyone out there know how this piece is supposed to fit against the metal casing to securely enable the antenna connection for the phone? Should it go under the metal casing between the plastic and the metal or should it go in front of the metal casing? Any thoughts. Does it even matter?

I've tried various combinations but still am getting "No Service".
Is my iPhone screwed?

Righty o there chaps.

Anyway my earpiece doesn't work on my iPhone 3g after replacing the glass I've decided that in order to get this problem fixed I've got to do it myself since I don't have the money to purchase a new iPhone just yet. So my question is for the full replacement job earpiece/Ribbon 3/Sensor cable is where can I get hold of these parts in the UK?

Also like a idiot I've broke the black tab which holds the ribbon 3 in on the motherboard I don't really want to replace this due to the fact I can't solder to save my life. Will the cable still work properly even though there is no tab on there and its just slid in? Or is there anything I can put on there in order to hold it in place permanently.

Thanks in advance

George

Flickering and Lines Though Screen Intermittent

I bought a dead iPhone 2G off someone and I found the battery was the issue with it so I replaced the battery and it works perfectly fine except...

I bought a dead iPhone 2G off someone and I found the battery was the issue with it so I replaced the battery and it works perfectly fine except every so often the screen will put red lines across the screen in random areas of the screen or turn I guess certain colors red as it would choose which object it decides to do it with.

Here is a screen where it happens and stays for a long period of time so I could take a picture.

Now it mostly happens randomly but it will always happen when you go to unlock it will flash the whole screen red and when it goes to the home screen it will flicker and put lines on the screen. Also sometime you open applications it will do it.

I have noticed if I push the top and bottom of the iPhone together it will stop it but as soon as I let go it is back. If I slightly give a twist it will force it to happen until I let go.

I know this phone has been dropped probably several times and there is a dent in the corner to support that. I just want to know what I could do to fix this if it is even possible.

I have a 3GS that took a dive off my lap into the parking lot... cracked the glass, but the phone still works.
Anyone know if this is possible? I've been searching online and the only thing I can find that's /actually/ different is the oleophobic coating on the 3GS screen.
