i have done all the steps but i cANT seem to donwload certs.zip

Step 9: Download certs.zip from here (Alt. link) and extract the following four files from it:

* youtube-cert.bin
* youtube-key.bin
* push-cert.bin
* push-key.bin

i need all these files cuz youtube not working for me if any can give me the file i will me thankfuul rapidshare tells only for premium users only help or if u no of any other site i can dl of.

Updated Cydia Phone Won't Start

Going through my daily Cydia updates had notices of 2 updates so i routinely update to stay current. Today when i did so essentially i can get my phone to do is show the apple logo when trying to turn it on. Updates was some sort of substrate as best i recall and yellowsn0w update. Like normal it ask to reboot which i did but now all i get is the apple logo. Desperation took me to itunes hoping i may be able to restore and start over but here's the catch, itunes won't even recognize the phone. Tried hard reset, still just the logo which disappears in a few seconds. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Six months after the owner of a large self-storage facility near a busy interstate interchange in Boston paid a $110,000 settlement to keep an illegal 13,750-square-foot billboard on his building, the sign has mysteriously disappeared. The property owner, the city, and Apple have all refused comment on the matter.

Two years ago, the owner of Planet Storage put a massive banner - mounted on scaffolding obscuring a mural of whales - on the side of his building, which is clearly visible from Interstate 93 as it enters Boston's downtown. The commonwealth of Massachusetts objected, saying the sign was illegal because it did not advertise products sold in the store. The owner said it should be allowed since he sold iTunes cards in the facility, and the businessman who put the sign up (who has also donated up to the legal limit to five-term Boston Mayor Thomas Menino every year since 2005) obtained a one-year temporary permit for the sign, but did not renew it in 2008.

The issue became a controversy in October after it was revealed one of the Mayor's campaign aides had made a call to the city office that needed to okay the permit. In an interview with the Boston Herald, David A. Passafaro, longtime friend of Mayor Menino, acknowledged that his inquiry might have been considered an official approval of the sign.

I have made some Meizu M8 themes, I have downloaded some Meizu M8 themes, but i think none of them looks enough like the awesome UI of the Meizu M8... I just cant use Photoshop, and without it you cant make the theme... I hate Photoshop (only becouse i suck at it... i love MS Paint XD ) So i made this request just to see if anyone good at this could help me to make this theme. I have many HQ screenshots of the UI which i can mail to the theme creator...

I don't know it's name, but I wanna change mine. Mine is on the left (ignore the Prowl icon, it's put there by Notifier), I got the one on the right from the iElegance Pro thread. I'm not going to install the whole theme for that box, but if I knew what it's called or where to look, I can pull one out of another theme or make my own.

Nevermind. I got the free version of iElegance and found the file UIPopupAlertSheetBackground.png, which I copied to the UIImages folder of my current theme.

3G + Itunes 9.02 + 3.1.2 sim card inserted not supported

Hi,

I'm quit new to jailbreaking, i have a iphone 3g since few month.
i had the firmware 3.0 and cydia running and itunes 8 and everything was fine. Few weeks ago i did upgrade only itunes to version 9 and since my iphone does not sync anymore with itunes and itunes is displaying :
sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported

the iphone is working great but i need to be able to load music ans appz!

So yesterday i did a firmware upgrade to 3.1.2 (7D11) and the modem firmware is now 05.11.07, i also ran blackra1n and load cydia again and everything is fine but still itunes does not sync and still displaying the same message. The phone was origninaly from rogers and my carrier is now fido. I guess i'm missing something! so if someone could give me the step to get rid of this and be able to use itunes would be great.

Ipod app not loading

Hi guys, just jailbroke AND unlocked my 3gs with blackra1n. Everything was working flawlessly....
just downloaded all my music from itunes on my iphone and the ipod app will NOT load. It shows that I have over 1000 songs on my iphone, but the Ipod app will simply not load. Any suggestions?

From getting my deposit back. The one thing I didn't like about att is when I signed up, i had to pay a hefty depoist for service. They told me with them your either on the high end of a deposit or a low end, there is no in between.

I don't know what all the compliants are about but personally, I have had great service and customer support so far with att. A few times, when things have been tight and I didn't think I'd be able to pay my bill on time, they were able to make a payment arraingment for me so my service wouldnt get disconnected and I wouldnt lose my deposit.

I just wanted to say that I have had a pretty good experince with att and the iphone.. And cant wait to see what happens next!

Itunes does not recognize my itouch

My phone is working perfectly and want to know if I should upgrade to 3.1.2 and if so through what means? The only downturn I have noticed is that some applications require the phone to be on 3.1

I also don't want to be left on 3.0 if Apple does something which will not allow me to upgrade in the future etc and then not be able to use applications that will only support 3.1.2 or future upgrades.

Please advise

Itouch 1g blank screen can't dfu Think it's toast

I know that i am not retarded. but I can't put it into dfu mode or get the computer to reconize it. The only time that i have seen anything even appear on the screen is when i try and charge it from my car adapter. Only once did i see a very very faint apple picture (loading pic) but never again. I have tried holding the power button and home button in every which way I could find on the internet net and I have loaded 8.2 itunes. I get nothing. When I connect either through firewire, or my car adapter I will see the screen have faint black lines. (one more note. When I had it attached to certain adapter in my car (basic car to usb charger. then ipod cord- to the ipod) when I hit the power button it seemed to overload my adapter. At least I think it did. None of my other adapters reacted to the power button being touched. I am pretty sure it's a paper weight but will try anything I can to get it up and going

Does anyone else notice the flaw with the 3gs that will allow you to make calls even if your phone is locked. I noticed it the other night when I was playing with my voice dial, I just pressed and held the home button and the voice dial commmand came up. I said dial xxx-xxx-xxxx and sure enough it started dialing even when my phone was locked. Is there a way to disable voice dialing or anyone know a way to prevent that?

I have been given an 2g Iphone 8gb to unlock, it is using baseband 4.05.04g and I have it jailbroken on 3.0(7A341). When I go to use bootneuter however it comes up with the error

"Error
Couldn't talk to the bootloader.

This may be due to
a CommCenter collision,
so BootNeuter will exit."

And I cant get it past this error, any ideas?

reinstall paid apps on new iphone

after purchasing cyntact from saurik via cydia, i had apple replace my phone because of cracks in the case (we're all familiar with this problem).

anyway, once jail broken again i went straight to cydia to reinstall all my favorite apps and add-ons.

but one thing i didn't think of was cydia not having my new phones' information on file as the purchaser of any apps.

new phone means new identification numbers...

so, of course, when i went to reinstall, cydia thinks i'm a new customer and wants to charge me again for apps i've purchased.

any ideas on some way to make cydia "remember" who i am, since there is no manual "login" or "users" concerning cydia, i'm at a loss.

Does notifier work with the stock Iphone messenger app?

I can not get repeat alerts to work only for my messenger and was wondering do I need to add something to notifier to work with the Iphone stock messenger program.

Love the notifier audio alerts telling me I need to check phone, but need to get messenger alert to work since I text with a number of friends.

If I turn off messenger alert in settings I get no reminders, even thou I have notifier set up to alert every 2 minutes for 30.

If I turn repeat on in settings I only get the 2 reminders set up by apple even thou I have notifier set up to alert every 2 minutes for 30

Strange GPS position when in WTC

Hi there..GOt a problem that whenever Im in WTC Building I click on MAPs...Its tells me my Position is in LONDON...but whenever I`m not around WTC..if I`m at home or University or wherever...It tells me my EXACT position..Even if I do not have GPS signal it uses Triangulation. But in WTC..MY position is in LONDON..

Why does he uses ip address to locate me? Some one can answer me or explain me?

Pwnage 3.1.2 unlock SMS - text messages not working

I'm on a 2G iPhone and couldn't receive or send sms text messages after upgrading to 3.1 and then 3.1.2.
Initially after the upgrade texting worked fine, but after restoring the iPhone backup in iTunes, sending a text in the Message application would quit to the desktop.
Also, if I deleted message "conversations" (either using Edit or swiping and deleting a text message) and then quit the Message application, on re-opening Messages the sms threads would be back. They simply wouldn't delete!
A solution that is working (for me anyway) was:
1/. Use Cydia to install OpenSSH on the iPhone.
2/. Use CyberDuck on the Mac and go to /User/Library/SMS and copy sms.db to the Mac Desktop as a backup.
3/. Take a deep breath then delete sms.db on the iPhone (Option+click then select delete)
3/. Restart iPhone. All SMS conversations are gone but texting works.
However, just for the heck of it I then copied the old sms.db back from the Mac desktop to /User/Library/SMS and rebooted the iPhone - the result was that all old conversations were back AND texting worked again!

LCD damage to iphone 3g?

Hello,

I recently took my iPhone 3G to the gym, and while I was there, did something terrible to it. It was either the sweat or it smacking forcefully into a dumbell but now the backlight is no longer working.

I looked through forums and used google to try to solve my problem- leaving it in a bag of rice and silica for a couple of days, before finally cracking the little SOB apart.

I checked the cable connections and put the phone back together. Still no backlight. Then I separated the LCD from the glass. Looking at the LCD, I see that there is a rainbow spot with what looks to be a crack down the middle (see attached photo).

At this juncture, I'm led to believe that the damage to my phone was caused by impact... And not water... Whatever the case may be, what do you kids think out there?

EDIT: I should also note the the phone gets pretty warm when I charge it... Not any warmer than usual though, really...

sorry if this is the wrong spot for this..

sooo got my iphone 3g jailbroken and i blasted out of the gates.. getting anything that looked simple and manageable from cydia that took my fancy and now it seems my iphone is like a cluttered attic..

issue #1 is i had the updated illumine theme and its seemed to have left its lockscreen wallpaper behind even when the theme is removed, ive put user lock screen at top of list in winterboard and still no dice.
using tenuis theme at the moment but the illumine lock screen is still there driving me up the wall.
How do i put my own wallpaper on the lock screen?

Issue #2 is that i cant seem to access my phone wirelessly anymore via programs like cyberduck, filezilla etc just get an error message saying There was a problem while connecting to my IP, but i could a week ago??? ssh is installed and says its on in SBsettings.

issue #3 is im sure very minor but with my current theme its replaced the unlock slider with a button, BUT i can still see "slide to unlock" behind the "press to unlock" button. can the original slide to unlock be removed or hidden?

iphone 3g working fine when it was unlocked/jailbroken.

Upgraded to 3.1.2 and lost unlock/jailbreak.

WIFI NEVER WORKED, so i had to jailbreak and unlock offline, using pwnage & Diskaid/blacksn0w...

Everything seems to be fine, i am jailbroken (cydia on springboard) and unlocked through DiskAid (added blacksnow etc to iphone through that)

YET, i still have NO BARS!

Tmobile sim card is in the phone

- Tried taking it out
- Tried resetting network settings

What else can i do? Please help!

It has a strap that comes with it you may add to it to make it a worn item instead of a carried item. Due to the simple design the price point for this case is low and very welcoming given it's workhorse attitude. The case is tough, thick, and strong. About a week ago, I bought two iphone 3gs' at the same time, one black and one white. I jailbroke the black one (Week 40) with no problems untethered. I tried to jailbreak my out of the box white iPhone 3gs (Week 40) on At&t network using pwnage tool 3.14 and after itunes finishes restoring with the custom rom, the phone shuts off and all that shows is a blank black screen (no backlight), which i believe is referred to as DFU Mode. I made sure iTunes helper was disabled, and the computer had just done a fresh restart. I have retried multiple times and all of them resulted the same. I am doing something wrong? I also tried blackr1an but I don't like the whole tethered jailbreak idea. HELP PLEASE!

downgrade 2G Jailbroken phone from 3.0 to 1.1.2

I have a 2g iphone that is jailbroken and unlocked on 3.0 with Redsnow. I've found out that 3.0 jailbreak on old iphones doesn't work with my carrier and they told me to downgrade back to 1.1.2....(my carrier is telus)

I entered the dfu mode thing (held power button and home button then released power) and then i shift clicked restore in tunes to restore to the 1.1.2 firmware i downloaded....trouble is, i get an error saying it can't restore, error 1601. then it stays stuck in that mode. I can get it to restore back to 3.0 so its not broken.

Can anyone help me downgrade back to 1.1.2?

I have a 2g iphone on 3.1.2 firmware. I used blackra1n to jailbreak and bootneuter to unlock but its still saying different sim card, connect to itunes. It has my tmobile cariier in the upper leeft with bars. When I slide for emergency I can dial any phone number and make a call, but it won't let me do anything else. Any suggestions?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I updated mobile substrate in cydia and now cydia doesnt work nor does my sbsettings work correctly and some other programs like mAdvlock and heaven only knows what else. Should I not have updated it? Im not sure what I did wrong. Is there any other way to cure this other than to start over? I dont want to start over :mad:

Has anyone done a SIM bed replacement?

Some aren't sure what to make of the App Store's decision to reject what would have been a cool "Mad Libs"-style app for the iPhone. But Apple isn't willing to share the laughs with this one. And because they can't, neither can we.

Perhaps Lex Friendman at MacWorld put it best:

iTunes problem with iPod Touch 3.0!!! Can someone please help...?

this is REALLY pissing me off.

ok here's the problem: i've been using iTunes on my Windows Vista Toshiba A135 laptop for about a month, and today i restored my internet on my OTHER computer, a Windows XP Dell Dimension 3000 (yeah shes old) and downloaded iTunes, then authorized the Dell with my iTunes account, and it confirmed that i have registered my account with (2) computers (so far). THEN i plugged my Touch (JUST upgraded it from 2.2.1 to 3.0 then JailBroke it) and iTunes gave this error:

so i tried to start the "Apple Mobile Device Service" and Windows gave THIS error:

so is there a solution???

Quick question. Any poing in keeping my old baseband on my 2g?

Hey, I have a 3.0 iPhone and I have been keeping my old basband for a while now. Always read that if you upgrade your baseband, you can't unlock/jailbreak/etc. So for the heck of it, I've just used custom images.

Is there any point to this if I have an iPhone 2g? If I jailbreak to 3.1.2 using blackra1n, and it upgrades my baseband, will I still be okay for future OS releases for the iPhone?

the baseband only really applies to 3g and 3gs, right?

AT&T Customer with 2g 8gb original iPhone. Will sell the iPhone later on to a non at&t customer probably. Don't know if the baseband thing will affect them.

Several weeks ago, we revisited the complaint from many Snow Leopard users that their files would be deleted from the home directory after logging into a guest account. At the time, Apple said it was looking into the matter and would have a proposed fix in the near future.

Tonight, the future has arrived, as Apple has unveiled its latest Snow Leopard update - a security patch that aims to fix a plethora of issues while simultaneously enhancing the general performance of the operating system.

According to InformationWeek, the Mac OS X 10.6.2 update addresses many of the security vulnerabilities that occur in open source components of Mac OS X, like Apache or Subversion.

The 10.6.2 update resolves a bug that could lead to the deletion of files in a user's home directory following a Guest account login. It also repairs an unexpected logout issue, a problem with Spotlight search that prevented Exchange contacts from being seen, and numerous other stability and usability issues, as explained on Apple's Web site.

As already widely reported, the update disables support for X.509 certificates with MD2 encryption "for uses other than trusted root certificates." InformationWeek explains that this move was prompted by a weakness in the MD2 hash algorithm.

According to the Apple update summary, the update also targets login bypass vulnerability:

I Think these settings are correct yet when I try to send a picture it fails, and I also can't receive pictures..I've been able to receive pictures on other phones.. Does anyone know what it might be?:confused:

updated to 3.1.2 iphone 3g 05.11.07 bb,
it was on 3.0.1 jailbroken unlocked and activated with 04,26,08 bb.

now after geting to the 3.1.2 fm, got it Jailbroken with blackra1n,
now here the tough thing, cant use my wifi, im connected but no internet on the DHCP adresse it starts with 169..., tried everything restore back to 3.0.1 or 3.1 gettind the error 1600,
tried to reset the network setting same prob,
used the ultrasnow with no wifi file nothing,
please i need help realy waiting for an answer with a procedure on Windows , by the way im using Windows 7,

My computer won't recognize my phone. Can anyone help? I plug it in and the phone turns on but nothing happens, it doesn't even pop up on iTunes. If so,can you tell me why, after I install the program from Cydia I do not get a MyFi icon,therefore I can not open up the window that allows me to set up a wifi hotspot. It works tethering using USB. What am I doing wrong. Tried reinstall no good. It seems that alot of people are have issues with this app that they want $10 for. Thanks for any help.

I've done my search and can't get a real answer to this.

Is the bootrom update-able through itunes or is it a flash from factory only?

Some believe updating to the latest firmware through itunes (3.1.2) will also update the bootom. Others says the bootrom is flashed from factory and stays the same through all firmware updates to the iphone (like a real rom should).

If it is acutally update-dable through itunes restore then is there a way to downgrade your firmware to undo this bootrom? I am being led to believe that my iphone did not have the updated bootrom but got it through itunes when a friend restored it using the non-shift + restore method (which possible updated the bootrom).

I am thinking of getting an iPhone. Mainly for calendaring use, since I have things to do, appointments, deadlines etc written in 20 different places.

I can either add a line to my brothers iPhone family plan. ~$60 right?
Or I can get a 2nd gen iPhone and add to T-mobile. ~$50?

I do decent amount of calling, moderate texting, and would use moderate internet.

Maybe I am missing something, but when I look up T-mobile plans, say "Even more" or "Even more plus" they end up being $50 or $60, which is about the same at AT&T (although better service and coverage).

Thoughts or suggestions?

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this has already been discussed. This is my first post and a quick search didn't bring up any results for me. I have an iPhone 3GS with the new bootloader. I am running 3.1.2 and used blackra1n RC3 for a tethered jailbreak. Lately, when I am using an app (cydia or appstore), my phone will not return to the homescreen. Everything in the app continues to work, I am just unable to use any other features of the phone. For example, today I was listening to Pandora. When I tried to exit to the homescreen I was unable. The music continued to play and I was able to switch between playlists and skip through songs. The app was fully functional.

The only fix I have found so far is to restart my phone which is a real pain in the *** seeing as how it is a tethered jailbreak and I don't always have my computer with me.

I started to notice the problem after downloading quickreply 3.0 from the sinful iphone repo but problems have continued since I deleted it and I am not sure if they are related.

any help would be appreciated!

Trouble with Bootneuter/Blackra1n

Modem Firmware: 4.05.04_g

- I downloaded and installed blackra1n onto my Iphone then ran the program
- Upon doing so i downloaded and installed Cydia onto my phone as well.
- I then downloaded and installed Bootneuter
- I turned my phone's setting to "never" in lock, then hit "Flash" on Bootneuter. Once I hit flash a popup comes up and says "Nothing to do"
- I then took out the AT&T sim card and placed my T-Mobile Sim card into the Iphone. The Iphone then says the Sim is invalid for the phone and i need to connect to Itunes...what am i doing wrong? why isnt my phone unlocked?

Secondly, If i am unable to unlock my phone is there a way to restore it to its original condition now that Blackra1n, Cydia, and Bootneuter are installed?

Please be stepwise in your response and thorough. Thanks ahead of time =)

I recently tried to restore it but got a error message. I ran blackra1n and it today, it showed geohot face, rebooted and returned to the screen where it shows that I need to connect it to itunes

Everytime I connect it to itunes, I get a error message saying invalid sim. I am using T-mobile but when I put my wife AT&T sim in there, it just says searching.

I had this running on 3.0 but no amount of tweaking will get it to work with 3.1. I've tried to unpack MobilePhonePackedImages.artwork with the program iPhoneShop 3.0 and artworker 3 and they will unpack the images but throw an error trying to repack them. I've changed them in Winterboard and they have no effect. When I put the transparency to 0% they show up completely white so I know something is causing them to work, but I can't get them to be kinda transparent. I have a 3GS and I know it worked before, and I've used it on my 2G phone I'm sure as well. I can't thank the person who made it enough, it's kinda dorky to have a mod you won't see when you use it but I really like it.

Any ideas?

Multiple duplicate MMS spam. What is this?

SWIM has an iphone 3g 8gb jail broken and unlocked running 3.1.2. Currently everything works great running on the AT&T network, except that SWIM will get MMS picture messages that he sent to other people in the past, resent back to himself in the form of texts from other people in his contact list.

If you go to the list of text messages from everyone it shows the correct text, but if you open the body of the text sometimes it will have a MMS picture message that he sent to someone in the past.

Has anyone seen this issue before? SWIM keeps getting these MMS messages, instead of getting the correct SMS from his friends.

Any help is much appreciated.

There used to be a Cydia(?) app that showed you all the devices on the wifi network that you were connected to, including printers. It even gave you the IP addresses of the device. If I remember correctly, it showed all the connected devices in map form.

I used blackra1n to unlock my phone. Then I downloaded cydia and from there BootNeuter. I ran BootNeuter successfully. When I put my tmobile sim card in it says sim "different sim detected, please connect to itunes." The wierd part is tht it shows tmobile in the upper left and full bars of service. When i go to make an emergency call i can call any number perfectly fine. It just doesn't let me access the phone. ANy help would be greatly appreciated!

Unlocked 3g on ATT only getting edge?

I have a 3G that I have JB and unlocked on ATT running 3.0.1. I am using the unlimited medianet/messaging plan since my previos phone was a Nokia. I am using the stealth 6.0 settings. I always have the 3g icon in the upper corner so I assumed there was no reason to use edge, so I turned edge off and had not connection. I then put edge back on and turned off 3g (all of this through sbsettings) and everything was back to working again. My question is: does this mean my phone is not using 3g when I have 3g on? Or does it simply mean that in order for 3g to connect, the phone first has to connect through edge?

I brought my iphone from ebay got it chipped so I can put my work sim card in it at a shop - all was fine then I wanted to get it upgraded from 2.1 to the latest upgrade - got that done at the same shop so I am now on 3.1.2 and since then I cannot get any of my apps to load except cydia and Rock which they put on it. I took it back in the shop today and he said just take all your apps off the iphone and then turn off the phone then load them all back on.

Can someone tell me where I am going wrong I can't handle my journeys to work without my apps!!:(

BigBoss 403 Forbidden Error?

I've been unable to get anything from BigBoss repository. Everytime I try to get something I get:

Need help to disable group MMS

Hi I have a jailbroken Iphone 3gs unlocked with t mobile and i used to send a lot of group SMS but ever since i enabled the MMS feature the group SMS turn into group MMS and my friends cant (or get charged) for MMS is there any way to disable that feature except going and turning off MMS?

Just wanted to say hey, as I've just recently jailbroke my iPod and caught the modding bug... BAD! This site is incredible! Just wanted to give back, the little that I can. By offering up these battery themes I made. Before I found zausser's iSatin theme, just plain awesome! I know it isn't much, and L.E.D. have probably been done before, but so far I haven't seen any like this.But it's start for me, as I have a LOT to learn.

I put this as [preview] even though they are all ready made. I'm just not sure how to go about setting them up so they are available to everyone. A little help in this area would be greatly appreciated!

MMS APN settings wont save

Hey guys this is my first post here. I've Googled this problem but haven't really found a solution for my FW (3.0.1). I have and unlocked 2g iPhone on TMobile with ActivateMMS2g installed. MMS works great! However EDGE runs extremely slow since it's running off wap.voicestream.com which is intended for TZones.

If I go to General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network and then edit the APN setting under Celluar Data my MMS APN setting will be blank and lost. Since internet2.voicestream.com doesn't work with MMS on TMobile I can't send or receive MMS messages. I saw some packages on Cydia however they're intended for 3.1.2 and I'm on 3.0.1 and do not wish to upgrade at this time. Can someone help me or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

EDGE only having ip address when needed??? something wrong

I Used Blackra`n to do JB + UNL...on 3.1.2 5.7 BT on 3G......
Everything worked fine exceppt GPS and Youtube and EDGE.,,
Installed PushFix...and EDge worked fine and GPS..Except Youtube.
Now I`ve noticed that the EDGE (ip address) loses Connection even if I`m on Nimbuzz set Away..but when I`m on BeeJive it Stays with an ip from EDGE.

Before everything worked fine on 3.0 BB 4.6...Hadno problem..since upgraded..now having problem..
Could this be the PUSHFIX??? or BLACKRA1N?

If any1 could have an answer would be nice!!

Okay... I have an 8GB iPhone 3G. I recently upgarded to 3.1.2 with blacksn0w. I'm on T-mobile and using Windows 7. So since I did this upgrade I can't make ANY changes to my contacts. I can't add a new one, I can't add a new number to an existing contact, I can't add pictures to anyones contact, and I can't change anyones ringtone. :confused: Any answers?

I posted this in a thread in the MMi Site News section with no response, yet. So i'll try it here:

On the mobile version of MMi, when I select the "iPhone" tab, iPhone news is up top along with most stuff including some iPod sections, but the Jailbreak section is missing.

When i select "iPod", iPhone news is still the first section with no iPod sections but the Jailbreak section is available.

When I select the "Mac" tab, only iPod sections are revealed.

And finally, when "MMi" is selected, only Mac sections are displayed.

It seems the tabs are producing the incorrect section on my iPhone and using the mobile version on my desktop PC. I don't think this would be a problem on my end, is everyone having this problem with the mobile version??

With the new jailbreak and unlock method out now, i just wanted to make sure that this was not required. You can use your tmaoble SIM WITHOUT this adapter.

Google Will Buy AdMob for $750 Million

It's just been announced that Google will buy the world's largest mobile advertising provider: Admob. The online search giant will buy out AdMob's stock which at current prices would total $750 million.

Admob's system allows developers to sell their apps for free and make money on ads. Many developers have found that the arrangement works better over the long term than a regular upfront sale of their apps, because the ad revenue continues to come in.

The large online companies like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft hare in fierce competition to grab a piece of the mobile market. Since there are more mobile phone users in the world than computer users, the growth in that sector is considered to be much more potentially lucrative than traditional online advertising.

Omar Hamoui, Admob's founder, started AdMob in January 2006 while he was still a student at the University of Pennsylvania. He originally just sold web links from his dorm room, but really built his business on the iPhone's success, as he noted in his announcement:

Iphone going back into recovery mode after each reboot due to blackra1n

Well this is a peculiar problem I've been facing with a particular Iphone. I've unlocked more than a dozen phones till date using blacksn0w/blackrain...But Today, I came across this iphone and my friend has challenged me for a 100$ If I can unlock this. After looking at the baseband, I thought like he must be crazy, But no matter what I did, After a reboot the iphone is going back to recovery mode automaticaly :( Has anyone faced such a problem so far with blackrain? The issue here is clearly with blackrain, even a fresh restore to the official firmware 3.1.2 and then jailbreak won't work too :( Can't understand what seems to be the problem I'm just unable to reboot normally. Everytime I reboot after jailbreaking the phone is going back into the recovery mode ( connect to Itunes picture)

Please through some light on this if anyone faced such issue.

Fix 3.1.2 wifi problem [ My Solution]

Yesterday i used blackra1n to jailbreak my iphone 3gs 3.1.2 and installed cydia and rock, and used blacksn0w to unlock using cydia. After i jailbroke and ulocked my iphone the wifi stopped working , remind it was working fine when i jailbroke it an right after i installed cydia an rock it stopped so i did some research and read something about rock that it has a bug or something, so i went and uninstalled the rock app from cydia and woila everything is back to normal , wifi is working beautifully.

Hope this helps because i know thats its really annoying that wifi doesnt work.

O2 to Unlock iPhones After Contracts Expire

O2 will allow its customers to unlock their iPhones after their current contracts expire, according to Matthew Key, chairman and CEO of O2's parent company, Telef�nica.

In an interview held as part of Times Online's "Ask the Boss" feature, Key left open the question of whether O2 would unlock the phones for their customers, or merely not object if they chose to do so:

A reader had asked Key to comment on a rumor that O2 would "not allow people to unlock their iPhone, even if they are out of their contract period." Unlocking phones after contracts expire is much more common in the UK than it is in the US and other markets, so any move by O2 to restrict that ability would be poorly received.

O2 also offers the so-called "Pay & Go" option for users without a contract, that offers 12 months of unlimited (using the UK definition of that term) web and WiFi, though without Visual Voicemail, call merging or Internet tethering. These users will also be able to unlock after paying a fee of �15.

As exclusive-carrier arrangements in many countries are increasingly coming to an end, it will be interesting to see which service providers go O2's direction and which don't. O2 clearly thinks that they can hold on to customers by offering low prices, so this move should spur healthy competition in the UK market.

Notifier icons and small Standard Icons both showing up in taskbar

I prefer the standard icons over the ones that come with notifier app., so I downloaded small standard icons for notifier, but when I get a notification I am getting both the notifier default and small standard icon showing up in taskbar.

Can someone help me?

I think I may know why I am getting double icons on status bar, but still need help. Looks like I downloaded small icons for status notifier not notifier. Does anyone know where these files are located so I can SSH and manually delete?

I was able to SSH into my Iphone last night and found the file status notifier app. and deleted this and it eliminated the double icon showing up in status bar. So that was the issue. Make sure you download correct small icon program.

How to secure your jailbroken iPhone/iPod

You may have seen in the news lately that there are already two worms in the wild that spread via jailbroken iPhones. There are, assuredly, more to come.

Absent the availability of a virus scanner, there are several steps you can still take to secure your device.

1. Install MobileTerminal from Cydia. Open up MobileTerminal, and type "su root". Enter the default "alpine" password. From this prompt, type "passwd" and enter a new password. This is the main hole hackers are using to get into your device.
2. Install SBSettings, the SSH toggle (if it doesn't come with it already, i can't remember), and turn off SSH when you don't use it.

These two simple steps will keep your iPhone secure from hackers.

during the day, sometimes if I am on the phone or checking email, my phone will completely lose its signal (and if I am on a call drop it) but always within 10 seconds the bars come back to five and 3g lights up again.

Its a little annoying especially if I am on a call. Doesnt happen all the time, only a few times a day.

Any ideas?

Question Regarding Wi-Fi on 1st Gen Touch

I have a 1st generation 8GB iPod Touch running a jailbroken 3.1.2 firmware that has an extremely weak wifi reception. I can literally be standing 5 feet from the router and it only picks it up occasionally (I am never actually able to connect).

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar problem and how they were able to fix it.

I have already tried several different firmwares (jailbroken/non-jailbroken). I do have a wifi address under settings.

Any help would be appreciated!

Since sbsettings is set up like that, i was wondering if anyone knows how to change what sliding the status bar does, like to make sliding pull up text messages or some other app?

There was an issue with cydelete deleting the actual web.app when deleting webapp icons from springboard which has now aparently been fixed. Problem is i cant add anymore webapp icons as its deleted the web.app application.

Does anyone know how i can get this back or if someone could post their web.app so i could ssh it to my phone that would be grrreat!

No Service after replacing battery on iPhone 3G

After replacing the battery in my iPhone 3G, I am basically getting "No Service". I am able to get service and make calls only when I am VERY close to a cell tower. Everything else works perfectly fine including Wifi.

All the cables are secure and I see no visible damage to any part of the logic board. From reading this board I learned that the antenna connection to the logic board is done by the copper "tooth" on the lower right side of the logic board. Is this correct?

Does anyone out there know how this piece is supposed to fit against the metal casing to securely enable the antenna connection for the phone? Should it go under the metal casing between the plastic and the metal or should it go in front of the metal casing? Any thoughts. Does it even matter?

I've tried various combinations but still am getting "No Service".
Is my iPhone screwed?

Hello everyone!

If someone could please help me out today it would be greatly appreciated - i am so stuck and cant find a clear, uncomplicated answer anywhere. I see that this is a common problem but there are SO many answers and variations of each problem that i cant find my exact specifications or details anywhere.

Here is my story:

Bought an unlocked, jailbroken iphone last week:
- 3G
- 16gb
- 3.0.1
- Used with T-mobile
- Was using Cydia & Winterboard to modify design
- Was working perfectly, only thing that didnt work was wifi

Last night i download some games (jeopardy, snood, etc.) through the app store in itunes on my macbook osx (tiger). For some reason once I bought them and synced the iphone and itunes, only the jeopardy transferred to my iphone. I was fooling around and trying to sync and re-sync, and then....

Then i made the dumbest mistake ever!

itunes prompted me to upgrade to 3.1.2.

I went ahead and upgraded (STUPID), and then itunes gave me the error that "The sim card used with this iphone does not appear to be supported." GREAT!

I started googling and read that I should try to do a Restore by holding down the HOME button and the On/off/sleep button while plugged into my laptop.

HOWEVER, before I did this, I did check the Settings in my iphone and it said that i WAS operating with 3.1.2

After I attempted a Restore, my iphone then got locked in the USB/tunes/Emergency calls only screen that everyone loves so much.

So now I cant get onto my iphone, and I cant access it through itunes either. AWESOME!

This is my only phone and i use it for work so if i dont have this fixed by this afternoon i will probably be sent to the guillotine.

- I am reading that I need to install Pwnage and attempt to jailbreak the 3.1.2 now. HOWEVER, on one forum (dev-team blog) it says:

"If you’re already jailbroken (by whatever means), you don’t need to mess around with DFU mode at all. Just create (or get from a friend) your custom IPSW and Option-Restore (Shift-Restore on Windows) to it via iTunes. Don’t enter DFU mode at all."

Is this something that applies to me because i was already jailbroken on 3.0.1??

I am totally confused.

If someone can be kind enough to give me step-by-step instructions for dummies on how to remedy this i would be sooo appreciated. Im screwed right now!

iBiquity Digital, the company behind HD Radio, has finally released the first digital radio solution for the iPhone. It requires a Gigaware HD Radio Tuner, which costs $80 through Radio Shack, and uses your earphone cord as an antenna.

HD radio uses a digital signal piggybacked onto existing analog broadcasts, allowing high-quality sound and song metadata (artist, track and album). There are nearly 2000 stations in the US are already broadcasting a digital HD Radio signal. The Gigaware tuner, like all HD Radio receivers, can pick up both the digital and analog stations, so you can get regular AM and FM along with the HD broadcasts.

Bob Struble, the head of iBiquity, told the Wall Street Journal that the relatively high cost of the HD tuner is offset by the fact that digital signal can often be picked up in areas where there is not WiFi or 3G signal for services like Pandora. �The signal is coming from your local radio broadcast, so in most cases, if you�re within range of that signal,� the app will work exactly as a radio does. Users are able to access a wide variety of multicast as well as local radio stations.

Struble says iBiquity is trying to get Apple to add a built-in HD Radio receiver to the iPhone and iPod touch, as the external device is somewhat unwieldy. Microsoft released the fourth-generation [URL="http://zune.net:80/en-US/"]Zune HD[/URL, which has an integrated HD Tuner, in September.

Trying to add a Safari bookmark adds a SB icon

Whenever I try to add a bookmark in Safari it tries to add a SB icon. Basically the "Add Bookmark" and "Add to Home Screen" options are the same.

Any ideas what the cause is and how I can fix it? The problem first occurred a few weeks ago, long after the JB and I really can't put my finger on why as I don't bookmark much.

Questions about buying a Macbook

I am in the market for a macbook pro, but have some questions about specs, hardware, etc.

Is there a macbook pro that does not have shared memory as far as the videocard goes? I would prefer it to not have to use shared memory.

Do I have to buy new hardware to work with the Mac or can I use my current printers and camera docks that I use with Windows?

Which program is best suited for running Windows 7 virtually? I am considering just running a dual boot setup, but may go the virtual route that way I don't have to be too concerned about virii when I am using Windows.

Does iTunes perform any better on a Mac? It runs like crap on Windows.

Are there many apps to purchase afterwards? On Windows they usually come preloaded with apps that are trial basis at first and then you have to purchase them later.

How to send and receive vCard contact info

Is the an app / tweak in the Appstore or in Cydia that allows me to both send and receive vCard contact info via SMS, email and BT? There are apps such as beamME that can send vCards, but I'd also like something that recognises a vCard SMS / BT stream / email attachment and gives me the option of adding it as a contact.

I'm thinking that someone has come up with something 2+ years after the iPhone launch...

the o2 website this morning is showing that the Sky Mobile TV app is now available on appstore and as an 02 customer, we get 3 months free. Just checked the appstore at 1.30pm uk time and it is not in yet, shouldnt be far away though. The app is free but the will charge �6.99 a monthe after the 3 month free trial.

1 question, will it work with 3G Unrestricter i wonder?

Holiday Ad Wars Kick into High Gear

There had been some rumors and speculation in recent weeks that Verizon's next round of holiday "attack ads" would take aim at Apple, iPhone jailbreakers, and, of course, AT&T. For now, however, it seems that Verizon is just going to focus on coverage claims against AT&T.

Apple Insider has amassed the new ads, which have just begun running. The titles of the ads include: "Naughty Nice," "Misfit Toys," and "Blue Christmas."

I hope this is in the correct forum... I've had an original iphone unlocked and running on Tmobile for a while now. just a couple weeks ago, i installed cydia and got my phone sending and receiving MMS. awesome.

well, yesterday, i bought an iphone 3G... never jailbroke, never unlocked. so i got it home and restored it to factory settings, upgraded to 3.1.2 and i installed blackra1n and unlocked/jailbroke the phone. by the way, blackra1n was awesome! only issue is... before i messed with the phone, it had the camera next to the text bar when texting... now... it does not. in the settings, there is a place to put my MMS settings... but no MMS feature when texting. how do i get it back???

App Store Lets Hitler Slip Past Radar

Over the weekend, an unexpected arrival to Apple's App Store took place.

For reasons that pass anyone's understanding, Apple approved a Spanish-language eBook version of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf. If that isn't bad enough, the application icon was a swastika.

Within 24-hours, however, the $1.99 application was pulled from the App Store altogether. Gee, I wonder if anyone complained?

The JP, which reported the story today, covered how EdibleApple, 9to5Mac, TechCrunch and TheNextWeb all took notice of the controversial app as soon as it hit the store.

Approving the Hitler app, however, is beyond anyone's capacity for understanding, which is likely why its approval can only logically be attributed to an overlooked error.

SMS Alert Won't Stop When Answered

I finally managed to install my own text alert but now it won't stop even when i've answered the alert immediately, it continues to play until it finishes which is 30 seconds long. This can be a major embarassment when in a packed room lol. Is there anyway I can set it up to stop when the text has been confirmed received?

The iPhone Dev-Team has finally released a proper working patch which fixes carrier name or logo on unlocked iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. If you jailbreaked your iPhone with PwnageTool 3.1.4 and then later unlocked it with ultrasn0w, then you must have noticed that the carrier name or logo on the top left side of the status bar was missing. This was caused due to a known bug in ultrasn0w and was purely cosmetic, which means that your phone continued to work even without the carrier logo in place. But today, Dev-Team has released ultrasn0w 0.92 which fixes this issue. Follow the steps below to upgrade your phone to the latest version of ultrasn0w.

Note: ultrasn0w 0.92 can unlock iPhone 3G and 3GS only with Modem Firmware (Baseband) version 04.26.08, unlike blackra1n with blacksn0w which can unlock the latest Modem Firmware (Baseband) 05.11.07.

Step 1: Start “Cydia” on your iPhone and touch on “Manage” tab on the bottom. Now touch on “Sources”

Note: T-Mobile users should disable 3G before installing ultrasn0w.

Step 2: Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source.Add musclenerd's repo and touch on “Add Source”.
Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps.

Step 3: Once the repository has been added successfully, Search for “ultrasn0w” in Cydia and install this application. The latest version 0.92 of this app will automatically unlock your iPhone so that you can use it with any carrier with proper carrier name/logo.

Those of you who already have the older version of ultrasn0w installed should simply touch on “Modify” button on the top right, followed by “Upgrade” button

Step 4: Now simply restart your iPhone and you should now have a fully unlocked iPhone on firmware 3.1.2 with proper name or logo for your carrier!

ultrasn0w 0.92 will be later moved to repo666 . Search for it on repo666 if you cant find it in musclenerd’s repo.

iPhone Browser can't see the system files

Hi all,

I have been using iPhone Browser since long and have used it on my 3G as well, recently I have bought a 32GB 3GS and have jailbroken with Blackra!n, it is from the old bootrom series hence I don't need to jailbreak with every restart, but the main issue is that iPhone Browser can't see the system folders anymore.

Has anybody else had the same issue lately and what did u do to fix it?!

Unlocking with or without original SIM-card?

Hi!

I have a SIM-locked iPhone 3G from T-Mobile. After I bought it, I activated the iPhone via iTunes with its original SIM-Card from T-Mobile. After the iPhone was activated I jailbreaked and unlocked it with Pwnage.

On my last restore I don�t care about the SIM-card and let my prepaid SIM-card in the iPhone, but all functions fine. :)

Is it better to restore, jailbreak and unlock the iPhone with:

[ ] original SIM-card?
[ ] no SIM-card?

Today we're checking out a great idea for charging your Apple iPhone or iPod. If you're like me and have various Apple devices laying around it can become inconvenient managing various chords located who knows where when trying to charge your iPhone or iPod. Further more using chords and laying your device down an the desk isn't exactly "classy." Docks are a great option but lately Apple hasn't been exactly generous enough to include docks with their products requiring you to purchase one yourself.

Enter the Dexim iPhone/iPod Dual Charging Station from Richard|Solo. Richard|Solo is the creation Richard Thalheimer, founder of The Sharper Image with the goal of providing customer service and satisfaction as the priority in an online store. Lately they have been concentrating on products for Apple devices, specifically the iPhone and iPod models.

This dual charger creates a solution of a need I wasn't aware I had � being able to charge multiple devices in the same spot, at the same time. Before this product arrived in the mail for review I had my iPod and iPhone connected to different outlets in different rooms both lying on the carpet. They were moved to the floor after I finally got fed up retrieving my charging cables after they slid between the desk and the wall. I've had some interesting incidents with the dog playing with them, stepping on them, and tripping over cords.

Now both of them live in the charging station on my desk. The Dexim Dual Charging Station is pretty versatile. It has two slots for charging and is packed with a ton of various inserts. Once you have located the inserts for your devices they simply snap into place on the charging station.

Overall the appearance of the dual charging station is great. The finish is glossy black with blue accents. The fit is great, everything is put together precisely and the inserts snap in snuggly and securely with no chance of falling off. One of my favorite features is the blue lighting. There is an On/Off button on the side of the charging station. Whether or not you have the unit set on "On" or "Off" the station will charge your devices if it is plugged in. The On/Off switch simply controls the blue lighting on the unit. With the switch set to "On" a great looking blue glow emanates from the LED trim on the unit.

The Dexim iPhone/iPod Dual Charing Station is nearly perfect but I do have a few issues. I consistently use my iPhone as an alarm to wake up in the morning. This worked fine with it lying on the floor since the speaker wasn't covered. Unfortunately when it is charging in this dock the sound is muted a bit, making it less effective to wake up to. What would make this charging station perfect is one of two things. The first option would be some small speakers in the unit. Even minimal speakers would increase the volume of the sound coming from the iPhone or iPod. A second option would be audio out. If I could plug in a 2.5 jack into the dock and run it to some speakers I would be completely content. The speakers/audio out wouldn't even need to work on both sides, just having one of the docking ports connected to some audio capability would be just fine.

Overall the Dexim iPhone/iPod Dual Charging Station is a great solution of charging two Apple iPhones or iPods or any combination of the two. If looks great, works great, and is put together solidly. If you're considering purchasing a dock for one of your devices but could actually use a dock for multiple devices be sure to consider the Dexim iPhone/iPod Dual Charging Station. I rate this product 4/5. If it only had some built in audio options the rating would be a solid 5/5.

Apple to Manufacture Verizon-Compatible iPhone in Q3 2010?

A new report from OTR Global relayed by AppleInsider indicates that Apple is planning on manufacturing new hybrid iPhones that will support both Verizon's CDMA2000 network as well as the UMTS 3G network. Only the UMTS network is supported by the current version of the iPhone and is used by AT&T and much of the rest of the world.
Qualcomm's new hybrid CDMA/WCDMA chip offers the potential for a single, global iPhone that users can take to any major carrier, solving the network fractionalization problem. It also solves other issues that had served as roadblocks, including the issue of user confusion that would result from Apple selling separate CDMA and GSM/UMTS versions of the iPhone.

The reason behind building in such support would seem primarily to extend the iPhone's compatibility with Verizon in the U.S. The move is expected to take place by the 3rd quarter of 2010. Conveniently, AT&T's exclusivity contract with Apple is believed to expire in mid 2010.

The report also indicates the new model's screen will also shrink in size from 3.5" to 2.8" diagonally. Curiously, this is not the first time the possibility of a 2.8" iPhone has emerged with iLounge previously publishing photos of 2.8" screens that were believed to be for use in future Apple devices.

iPhone 3GS without "Push Notifications" settings missing

Hi!

I have recently wondered about facebook and push notifications on my 3GS. Still I am not 100% clear if push notifications do work with facebook app 3.1 but that is another topic.

In the process of researching about this I found that strangely my "Notifications" entry seems to have disappeared from the settings screen.

Opposed to the screenshot I found online (see below) I do not have this entry at all anymore.

Does anyone of you have an idea why that could be?

I am running my 3GS jailbroken & unlocked under a pwned 3.1.2 w/ old baseband.

Righty o there chaps.

Anyway my earpiece doesn't work on my iPhone 3g after replacing the glass I've decided that in order to get this problem fixed I've got to do it myself since I don't have the money to purchase a new iPhone just yet. So my question is for the full replacement job earpiece/Ribbon 3/Sensor cable is where can I get hold of these parts in the UK?

Also like a idiot I've broke the black tab which holds the ribbon 3 in on the motherboard I don't really want to replace this due to the fact I can't solder to save my life. Will the cable still work properly even though there is no tab on there and its just slid in? Or is there anything I can put on there in order to hold it in place permanently.

Calander alert length tweak/mod?

I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way to mod or tweak the alert length on things like the calander? For example, it just has the option of being reminded after 1 hour, 2 hours it jumps to 1 day. Is there any way to be reminded after 3,4,5 etc hours? On my old ppc you could just type in a number of minutes/hours/days as you wanted...

I want to upgrade my unlocked 3GS's 3.0 firmware to 3.1.2.
I need to unlock the device again after the upgrade. I'm using a PC running on Windows XP.

I've done a lot of reading but haven't found an answer to this query -
Now that blackra1n RC3 is out & can unlock devices with baseband 05.11.07...should I upgrade to the latest firmware using iTunes & get to the new baseband or upgrade using a custom firmware keeping my baseband at 04.26.08?
I read that the unlock when baseband is at 04.26.08 is more reliable & permanent than the blackra1n JB & subsequent unlock by blacksnow at baseband 05.11.07. Is this true?
Or does Pwnage tool 3.1.4 do a better job at the newer baseband & unlock it without issues by ultrasnow?
I can get my friends Macbook & do it.

What should I do? I need to keep my iPhone 3GS unlocked to use it..so require the best unlock solution there is.

I want to play Spotify in the car

Hi,

I have a Toyota Avensis with an iPod-adapter. When I connect my iPod touch to the adapter, the iPod appear as a CD-changer, where each playlist corresponds to a playlist on the iPod.

I also have a Spotify premium subscription, meaning that I can have offline playlists on the iPod (I now have several Gbs of Spotify-music on the iPod). So naturally, I would like to play that music in the car, but that's when the problems begin.

I connect the iPod to the car stereo, and start the Spotify-app. Spotify starts playing, and everything works fine until the first song ends. Then Spotify stops, and the internal music player starts instead. This happens every time a song ends, or I try to jump to the next song.

I then tried to remove all (mp3/aac) music on the iPod, so the internal player wouldn't have anything to play. But then the car stereo claimed there wasn't any CDs in the "CD-changer", so it wasn't possible to select the iPod as a source.

Next I jailbroke the iPod and installed Backgrounder. The idea was that if I had just one mp3-file on the iPod, consisting of just silence, the internal music player could play that one, while Spotify was running in the background, playing the music I wanted to hear. However, the same thing happened. Spotify plays one song, then the internal music player starts (playing just silence...) and Spotify stops playing. :(

So that's where I am at the moment, and now I've run out of ideas. I really, really want to be able to play Spotify in the car. If anyone has an idea for how to solve this, I would be very happy.

Okay, I apologize in advance if this question has been answered for the 19343297th time, however I couldn't find it. I have an iPhone 3g that is already jail broken and unlocked to use with T-Mobile. However, I need to update from 2.2.1 to 3.1.2 but I don't know the right steps to proceed. Do I update my phone through iTunes first, or is there something else I need to do? I'm totally new to all this and read one of the guides above but it only pertained to 3.0 fw. Also worth noting, there is a chip in my phone that I'm told I don't even need if I unlock my phone the "correct" way. Help?

Recently I accidentally dropped my iphone 3g 8gb into some water and now it's broken. I'm bringing it into apple soon and heard about this Out-of-Warranty service.

For those of you know what that it is, would I still apply for this deal if appple found out that I had taken the phone apart after being water damaged?

Also, is it possible to replace my 8gb iphone with a 16gb or even 32gb using this out-of-warranty service? If so, would this cost more than the $200 fee on apple's website?
