Thread: Mobilesubstrate deleted, boot loop problem

Default Mobilesubstrate deleted, boot loop problem
My brothers phone: iphone 4s running 6.1.2 jailbroken with evasi0n.

My brother deleted Mobilesubstrate after his phone was acting up. Without safe mode I am unable to boot into the firmware while plugged into a computer. However, for some reason while plugged into a wall adapter the phone is able to boot up. Even while plugged into the wall the wifi and cellular data adapters are disabled and I cannot enable them meaning I cannot reinstall mobilesubstrate. Is there anyway to manually install Mobliesubstrate on the phone? I do not have on file any SHSH Blobs of any kind and I cannot access the phone on i-fun box. I am able to put the phone into restore/DFU mode however iTunes runs into multiple errors when I try to restore it. My most recent error code encountered was error 21.

Any help would be much appreciated. I do have Linux available to maybe do some command line oriented solutions if any may arise, maybe there is a way to mount the filesystem while in restore/DFU mode? Please help!

That's a shame, I though you might try Bluetoothing files over with iFile, AirBlue, Celeste or Bluetoothing using a photo sharing app like PhotoShare or a file manager like FileManager. If you havent got iFile, you would probably need Terminal though.
So when it's plugged into the charger and its powered on, does it
    1) run Cydia, Cydia apps or Cydia tweaks
    2) run App Store Apps
    3) have you terminal installed
    4) does it stay on when you unplug the charger
    5) have you got anyway to get it to safe mode like SBSettings or SafeMode tweak or volume up trick
    6) what did you use to delete MobileSubstrate?
    7) once it it is on, have you tried USB transfer with another PC or USB port
Also, I wonder if SemiRestore would work, might be worth a try to see if it sees you iPhone while on or in DFU or in restore mode

Thank you so much for helping.

Cydia runs while plugged into the charger and app store apps run.
    Terminal is not installed.
It stays on for about 5-10 min before it crashes and restarts.
As far as I know there is no way for me to get it into safe mode. SBsettings and safemode tweak are not installed.
He used cydia to delete mobileSubstrate.
I honestly have not used a different computer, I will definately try that. I have attempted to use multiple USB ports.
I am not familiar with SemiRestore... sounds promising, though.

    Thanks again!

Hi, it occurred to me that when you first jailbreak, MobileSubstrate is not installed. So seeing as Cydia runs, I would set Cydia to user mode (not hacker or Developer) and try uninstalling any remaining Cydia tweaks and themes you recognise as installing yourself.
    Don't uninstall
    Acf2add
    APTxxxxx
    Crash Reporter
    Cydia Installer
    Cydia Translations
    Evasi0n 6.0-6.1.2 Untether
    OpenSSH
    If you have them!
If that doesn't work then seeing as you have already uninstalled MobileSubstrate, uninstall its companion
Substrate Safe Mode as they probably need each other to work properly.
    Good luck

Currently in Cydia the following packages are installed:
    BigBoss icon set
    Cydia installer
    Cydia translations
    Evasion 6.0-6.1.2 untether

    The rest was deleted.

    Find Utilities
    GNU Privacy guard
    grep
    gzip
    LZMA Utils
    PAM (apple)
    PAM Modules
    pincrush
    sed
    shell-cmds
    system-cmds
    Tape Archive
    UIKit Tools

    In developer mode there is:

    APR (/usr/lib)
    APT 0.7 (apt-get)
    APT 0.7 Strict (lib)
    Base Structure
    Big Boss Icon Set
    Bourne again shell
    bzip2
    Core Utilities (/bin)
    Cydia Installer
    Cydia Translations
    Darwin Tools
    Debian Packager
    Debian Utilities
    Diff Utilities
    Evasi0n Tether
    Find Utilities

Hopefully one of these has a feature that allows me to re-enable networking or something. Thanks again!

Hi, well the only two I haven't got are pincrush and libaiml. I would start by uninstalling these two. Libaiml is a dylib installed when you install AssistentExtensions for Siri, so should be removed.

Also, have you tried in settings, general, reset, "Reset Network Settings"?

I uninstalled those two and i still cannot enable networking. I have tried to reset the network settings before but "I will give it another try just for the heck of it.

Hi, have you gone any Apple App Store apps like terminal, file managers or FTP file managers installed?
    Here are a few
    Terminal apps Prompt or iSSH
SFTP apps eZshare, Files Connect, FTPonTheGo, FileManager?
Some of these could be used to Bluetooth deb files into the Cydia Autoinstall folder.

Unfortunately none of those apps are installed

Hi, sorry I can't see any other way to install debs if USB, wifi and Bluetooth are out. Also without iFile or some terminal package, you can't stop and restart the USB "drivers" either.
You could try letting the battery go totally flat (or unplugging it) to see if that reboots the USB hardware.

If you do manage to get USB back, try SemiRestore or rejailbreak with Evasion.
As a very last resort, you could see if uninstalling Cydia brings USB back, but its more likely to crash your iPhone, forcing you to install iOS6.1.3
