Duplicate Sources in Cydia
I am sorry but I am getting desperate, so I am starting over with this issue. I have a iPhone 3G running ios 4.2.1, it is jailbroken and unlocked using ultrasn0w. Around the time that the Cydia servers went down my phone started giving me a series of error messages each time I loaded Cydia. I would like to correct the issue but don't know how. Can anyone help?
Here are the error messages:
I tried sending a request to Saurik but have heard nothing.W: Duplicate sources.list entry BigBoss Cydia Repository | iPhone News, Help and Guides stable/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/apt.thebigboss.org_repofiles_cydia_dists_stable_ma in_binary-iphoneos-arm_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://cydia.zodttd.com stable/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/cydia.zodttd.com_repo_cydia_dists_stable_main_bina ry-iphoneos-arm_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry ultrasn0w.com ./ Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/repo666.ultrasn0w.com_._Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://apt.modmyi.com stable/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/apt.modmyi.com_dists_stable_main_binary-iphoneos-arm_Packages)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
Thanks to anyone who is willing to help.
So far I have tried the following but I still get the same Duplicate sources message.
Restarted Cydia and errors still appear.apt-get update
Restarted Cydia and errors still appear.apt-get remove cydia
apt-get install cydia
Restarted Cydia and errors still appear.Open iFile.
1) Navigate to /private/etc/apt/sources.list.d
2) Delete the file "cydia.list" (click EDIT on the top right, select the file, and click the waste basket).
3) Navigate to /var/lib/apt/lists
4) Delete all of the files in this folder except the one called "lock"
5) Navigate to /var/lib/apt/lists/partial (nothing was in this folder - empty)
6) Delete all of the files in this folder
7) Navigate to /var/lib/cydia
8) Delete the file "metadata.plist"
Close iFile and restart Cydia. You should be at the first screen you saw when you first started Cydia: What kind of user are you? Make your selection and Cydia will re-generate the default sources.
Help, Please.Last edited by bsdaiwa; 04-29-2011 at 06:10 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

^Start again. With so many changes/file deletions (without finding the real problem) it may never work again.

Yes, I think you are right.

Just removed ultrasn0w in the list of sources along with BigBoss and all the others. I deleted them but they still remained in the list for some reason. I rebooted and all was fixed. Go figure.Last edited by bsdaiwa; 04-29-2011 at 09:24 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

bsd - just having this problem, found your entry and want to give thanks - deleting the sources made them go from deletable type icons to the "permanent undeletable icons for sources included with Cydia jailbreak" and after that evertying seemed to settle down to normal. so much for the unhelpful knee jerk "REJAILBREAK REJAILBREAK" answers.
