Jaiilbreak Sucessfull, Cydia Fail

I just jailbroke my ipod touch for the first time using greenpois0n on ios 4.2.1. The jailbreak was successful and I was able to use Loader to install Cydia.

On loading Cydia it said cannot locate package for every App page in the store.

I tried deleting everything but 'partial' in '/var/lib/apt/lists', and everything in '/var/lib/dpkg/updates' then restarted. Since that was the only thing I could find in the forum that I could do without having SSH.

Now when I try to load Cydia the app starts to open but before the app becomes full screen it crashes back to SB.

Loader won't let me do anything, it just says error Cydia already installed.

Is there a way to remove Cydia so I can re-install if I don't have any 3rd party apps on the device?
Or can you help me get a 3rd party app on my device so that I can install SSH so that I can uninstall Cydia?

Try using redsn0w to reinstall cydia

Cydia now runs and, I was able to go back to untethered jailbreak with greenpois0n and Cydia is still Running.
