Keyboard Disappears
I am not sure if this is an issue with Cydia or not. I took my iPhone 4 running 4.01 to the Apple Store and they wouldn't fix besides to tell me that it's probably a Cydia issue. I know it's not a Rock issue because I uninstalled it.
The problem is, that my keyboard doesn't come up when I want to type. There is no way to get it back, whatsoever. It makes the iPhone practically useless. Sometimes, the keyboard does work but it doesn't work more and more frequently.

it will not come back even after a restore?
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am.

Sounds like you may need to restore. Do you have any winterboard themes installed?

A restore take 10 mins just back it all up back up your cydia apps as well with pkg back up. Make sure you save your blobs with tinyumbrella and do the restore. Its the only logical fix

Ya when things like keyboards go missing and no good reason why a restore is pretty much your only course of action.

Guys, I have no idea what TinyUmbrella is. It sounds adorable, but I'm really not ready to restore. I'm on the road.. I can't be reading no tutorials now.

We are just trying to help. That is probably going to be your only course of action to fix your problem. If you dont want to restore then you are just gonna have to learn to live without a keyboard.

All about SHSH
They basically just allow you to restore to whatever firmware apple is currently signing (4.1 right now) even after apple releases an update. If you are not worried about unlock a quick restore to 4.1 should fix your problem.

I remember that a lot of the apps on Cydia, which I bought, stated that they work with 4.0, 4.01 but not 4.1. I'm sure I saw that. So, I don't want to be taking a chance with 4.1.

Which apps are you referring to? A lot of them have been updated to work with 4.1 now.

Maybe whatever you currently have installed to do that is what is messing with your keyboard coming up.
Also backgrounder was update for 4.1 on Oct 7 apparently.

I think I may have found the culprit, but I'm still not certain.
I reset the settings on the iPhone, and when I started to set them back, I noticed that when bluetooth was turned off, the keyboard was back.
So, it may have been because I have an apple bluetooth keyboard around and it connected itself without my knowledge.
Or maybe even when it is connected, the keyboard should still be up.
Who knows.
