Cydia error. Can I reinstall Cydia somehow?
I am getting this error with Cydia when I try to install or remove an app. Is there a way to repair or reinstall Cydia? I'm on an iPhone 4 with 4.0.1. Thanks!

What app are you trying to remove?

It happens with anything I try installing or removing. Right when I click the confirm button it pops up. I tried yesterday some methods I found of reinstalling cydia but it didn't work. Unfortunately I only have 4.0.2 shsh backed up since I got my iPhone too late. I may be out of luck until 4.1 and a jailbreak comes out I'm guessing.

You can try to run jailbreakme again it may help but it may crash your phone also. At this point it sounds like you don't have much of a choice.

I went to jailbreakme and slid the bar across again and it just goes to a purplish background and sits there doing nothing.

That sucks, sounds like you might have to restore.

Yeah but there is no way to restore and keep 4.0.1 right? For now I'll just leave it how it is since everything is working fine I just can't install or remove anymore cydia applications lol.

I tried that yesterday and just did again. When trying to install cydia I get an error about essential. I'm no pro so I don't know what essential is. I've attached another screenshot with the error. I also tried yesterday to download the cydia package and ssh it to the root directory and use like a dkpg command or something like that. That one seemed to work I think but I still get errors. Currently the Cydia icon is gone.

I guess essential is referring to the essential packages for cydia. I wonder if I could ssh into the iphone and delete the cydia folders and then install it. It seems when I do the remove cydia command that not all of it is being removed.

Looks like I may have fixed it using this method:
Installing Cydia over SSH | iPhone World
This allowed me to install the essentials back on there as well I guess? Seems to be working as normal once again... *knock on wood*
Thank you for your help though guys!Last edited by MaStA819; 09-07-2010 at 01:39 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
